I've had and enjoyed both coupes and sedans. Had a truck and a couple SUV's. All I can say is that you can't put cripples or old people in the back of a coupe and not feel guilty. That's why I always go back to a sedan. I'm nice enough to drive other people around and would rather not tourture them just so my car can have few windows to roll up when the rain comes. Plus can you really argue with this much open air ('65 Lincoln Continental convertible)
wow...a 4 door 4 speed car with a console and a tach...that is so cool... whats the production numbers on those like 2 or 3? very cool!!!thanks for the pics
More Door Nation Represent!!!! So what do you think I was playing with in Southern California while my Skylark was sitting in a chicken coop in Florida from 2001-2009? The '57 Chevy was always the darling car of the fifties, but it just looks so stodgy and bland compared to one of Virgil Exner's most understated designs! I don't know if anyone mentioned anything about that '69-'70 Skylark with the oddball wheel launch. I saw that thing in Hot Rod magazine with some Farmer Bob looking cat who "Stole Grandma's Skylark" for the event that it's pictured at. It even has a cast iron skillet on the aircleaner lid that he heated up burritos with! Later KFD
What he said... This is the the way it was when I was growing up. 4 doors weren't cool but 2 doors were. Mike
I have two 4-dr Buicks, a '66 and a '67 though initially I didn't want a 4-dr I've really grown to like the body lines on those two Buicks. And I ended up with these as they were cheaper than a 2-dr. One day I'd like to get a 2-dr Skylark or GS but I'm happy whith these for now, easier to put the car seat in  The '66 hardtop almost could pass for a 2-dr from a distance something about the curve of the rear window and panel. the '67 post sedan just looks like a sleeper, especially as rusted out as it. I think a lot of the 4-dr "hate" has to do with return value of the car, if you spent tons of money restoring a 4-dr it'll never be worth as much the same model in 2-dr. I think if quality replacement sheet metal was available for buicks you'd see a lot less nice 4-drs getting cut up to save a 2-dr.
I've got a question about 4-drs. so from the factory there was some small amount of 4-dr MOPARS that a customer ordered the Hemi in (as a board member referenced earlier in this thread) and that gorgeous 4-dr 4-sp Buick Last1987GN posted. Is there any documentation or anecdotal evidence that something like that happend with Buicks? or where those even options? Ordering a 4-dr skylark with a 455, or a 4-bbl 340, etc..... Or like prior to 1967 when the Gran Sport was a "package" could one in theory have ordered a 4-dr Skylark Gran Sport, or if you checked that 4-dr box did it automatically made the GS package unavailable.
4-door Electras come standard with the 455, th400 trans, and super heavy duty rear-end :Brow: There's even mention that some of the big boats got stage 1 style heads without even having to order a special package (stage 1 valves but without the polished finish is what I've read) As for the Mopars, it was common to find hemis in the 300 cars going from the 50's all the way up to today. Generally, regardless of the make, the big cars got 4 doors to make them practical and big motors to make them move.
' I suppose I should have clarified, and said intermediate body cars (GM A-body and the like). :spank:
The 4 doors are better for daily driving I find. I like how the doors are much shorter on the 4 doors! I now have a 99 Park Ave Ultra, 75 Regal, 88 Caddy, all 4 doors and the 70 Skylark that is a 2 door. I let the 73 and 76 Centurys go to new homes reluctantly. Here was my old 73, I only had $700 into the car when I took these videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbiqdPVLpnE&list=UU50zHEXJUfJ6pJM9zuQA1QQ&index=4&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GljRr5PauLI&feature=channel&list=UL
here's some more 4dr haters... http://www.youtube.com/watch?<WBR>v=2_Dzbf26t3g&feature=fvwrel and frankly I hate them for what they do.:spank::spank: What a waste of good spare parts if the cars were really beyond repair which I cannot judge. Even wrecking them in a derby would make more "sense"...... geeeeezzzzz
Age is not a factor. I am 32 and I like four dours... Always have and always will. Ive had a vette and a dodge stealth, a couple pickups, I dont hate two doors but I like a big ass 4 door barreling down the road! Comfort and style.
