My favorite 4 door was the brown big block 4 speed Ford Custom 300 that Burt Reynolds drove in White Lightning
Well you might hate on us, but thats just the way it is sometimes. Everybody here has a diferent look tbey like.
I love fourdoors, I would love to get my hands on one of 4 66 Hemi 4 doors, or 1of1 67 Hemi 4 doors. or a Merc Marauder. the sleeper aspect is the best. That is why I am working on building my wife's Lincoln Town car. There are just some I don't care for in looks. Tim
Like others have said, it depends on the car. My 69 Nova 4 door I used to have looked awful but it was a great running and driving car. My 59 LeSabre flat top has 4 doors and is the sexiest car on the road. So there.
The 64 Mercury Marauder 4 door hardtop is one of the most beautiful cars ever made in my opinion. Looks way better than the 2 door version. Also, those early 50s Hudsons looked wonderful in 4 doors but kinda goofy in the 2 door models.
I agree with the fact some cars just look great as a 4 door while others look good as a 2 door . Here's my 4 door 68 Le Sabre . The wagon was mine also . :beers2: http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37262&d=1101132479 http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37255&d=1101131715 http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37263&d=1101132540
I love the look of the modern Dodge Charger. I'd buy one if they offered it in a 2 dr HT with a manual transmission.
I don't buy the age thing. Four door cars and two door cars were built with a different purpose and target customer in mind. Most of us are part of the target group for the two doors. I do like some four door cars, like a cadillac deville, but in a classic car I like a two door.
Theres a member here that has a 4 door Merc Maurauder and its a factory 4 speed car...hes a big 4 door guy and hes young..ill send him here..he may post a pic of a couple of his 4 doors... with that being said, i am not a fan at all of 4 doors...and i ride anyone i can about being different...but it all in good fun..but,,,youll never see me in a 4 door unless its carrying my coffin.....period...
I read an article in which they asked someone from Dodge why it wasn't a 2 door. "2 door cars don't sell" was the response. My reply to that is, of course they don't sell, you don't build them.
Funny. Someone should inform Ford. I have never seen a factory built 4-door Mustang, but I have seen more 2-door Mustangs than all Dodges combined.
They wont sell a 2 door Charger because it's a common platform so the costs would be too high. It's the same car underneath as the 300C and the Magnum and even some of the body parts are interchangable. For those who demanded a 2 door they came out with the Challenger.
Trust me David its the age thing. When I was a young guy growing up it was square to drive a 4 door or even like them for that matter. Kids that were fortunate enough to get to use their parents cars used to park them out of sight if it was a 4 door so they wouldn't be made fun of. In fact it was assumed you were driving " Your Daddy's Car " if you were seen driving a 4 door. I was lucky, my parents had a 46 Buick Super sedanette. My Dad wasn't very free with the keys though. i like 4 doors to just not much in the a body or g body cars they just look out of porportion the ecception is the 68-69 4 door hard tops
They shouldn't have given it the name Charger then and instead called it a Coronet or Polara.
