those are really hard to find in good shape and really easy to break; be careful when you pull the drip rail moulding off.

Cut the car off around them.

The little tab was missing when I slid the chrome away. It is not stuck in the chrome so they must have lost it when they painted the car:Do No:

The trick is to get to the cake and ice cream as soon as possible. Cut her a big chunk of cake and a big scoop of ice cream. After she eats it, she regrets eating it, and doesn't want to go anywhere or do anything special. I learned this by accident last year with my girlfriend. We got to the cake at lunchtime, and by 1pm she called it quits.

What a weekend!!! Had the wife's 51 birthday on sat and all wen't well till sun morning. I was on the lazy boy all day in the AC. It was 110 on My deck and that is no good with a hang over. I must be getting old as I can't party like I once did.I am in the shop today so I should make good progress on the tear down of the hard top. I will post pics as I go:TU:

This heat wave sucks:af: It is 95 in My shop and I could turn on the ac but My hydro bill is already bad. so I got the fans going. The tear down is going slow but moving forward . I have the dash rear window column shifter and a couple of brackets left. I think I will cut the car in half instead of just pulling the drive line. This way I will have the engine bay intact for reference. I will save the tail lights and Bessel but the rear bumper is a little ruff. I am still unsure about the rear end and the gas tank. I will know better when I cut the body off.:beers2:

95 is cold. Try coming down here for a while.

Don't forget to save some scrap panels to use for rust repair.

I have fresh metal for repairs. Most of the body has an inch of bondo on it. All I need for the rag is lower quarters. I have the tools and metal I need to do a nice fresh job on them. :TU:

Well I can finally get back on the hard top today. I got in the shop at 5 am and made good progress. All the glass is out harness and dash are out. The only build sheet I could find was over the glove box. It doesn't look like any build sheet I have ever seen? :Do No:

OK I got the hard top stripped and gone to scrap. I have the clip in tacked so I could use it for ref on the engine swap. I am planning on starting on the body work today. I have lots of parts on the shelf if any body is looking for anything.:beer

  20. Wildcat GS

    Wildcat GS Wildcat GS

    Hi Mark,
The floors and trunk on your convert are cleaner than to be expected because according to your VIN your Wildcat convert started life in Southgate California!! The convert is a California car!
Also, the piece of paper you found over the glovebox of the hardtop is similar to one I have seen recovered from under the seat of another Canadian built `66 Wildcat. The characters on it, like A69, are upc codes for the options and features the car was built with. This would serve the same purpose as a build sheet.
Canadian cars are cool in that the same codes used for sales were also used for body build and assembly. If you check the body plate on the Canadian built hardtop you will find these same codes. Not so on American built cars...
In an American built car the codes are often not there (like your convert) or Fisher Body used arbitrary codes which require a legend to connect them to the sales codes.
Bill mentioned never having seen a Wildcat with power vent windows. That is because the option was only available in Canada. I have seen a handful now and they were all Canadian built cars. Perhaps Buick offered the option in Canada because they felt a "conditioning" option short of full blown and expensive AC would sell more readily?
Cool cars and a great find on your part. You`ll enjoy the convert once you get it up and running. If you have any questions I know the `66 cars pretty well, dont hesitate to drop me a PM. Good luck! :beer
