The subways have been up and running for days now. Some of the lines are cut short where they go from Manhattan into Brooklyn through the tunnels. There are plenty of practical ways to get into the city. The LIRR, and Metro North are running. Path trains are still down, and Jersey to NY transportation is not as good. It's getting better every day. Staten Island and the Rockaways got hit hard. This is a massive undertaking. It will take awhile.

... because Wall St. is THE financial capitol of The WORLD

That's what they say. Money is backed by nothing since we came off the gold standard. A dollar is only worth what people in the street agree it's worth, and that has nothing to do with Wall St. The economy is mainly based on a premise and blind faith. When Wall St is closed the biggest hit is taken by the brokerage firms since it cuts into their fees. I'd rather see that manpower be put to use cleaning up the damage from the storm. As long as there are bridges closed or tunnels under water there's more important business than trying to push apple stock or manipulate pork shares

The Wall Street Journal reports today that the number of persons left homeless by Sandy is in the tens of thousands.

Yes its bad for some Jim. I was able to get around to some customers today in my territory of Central NJ and towards Brick, Toms River.
We invited a family that I know at one of the hospitals I cover to stay at our other house that was not damaged and has power, gas, and water. They lost a car, have a damaged home and no water or power.

I have a cousin and her husband who were stuck because they had no power, and with inside parking at their NYC apartment - there is no manual way to open the garage door. They couldn't get their car out!

Still no gas unless you want to wait hours! Im down to a 1/4 tank on the work truck. I heard now by the end of the week. My friend in Hicksville still has no power and they're telling him another week

I heard from a friend in Philadelphia who was without power for 4 days...no wind damage or flooding near them. Crazy.

The European and US models have the nor'easter tracking a little more to the east. It is still going to be bad especially for eastern L. I.

Yup, and if the track is more Easterly, the mid-Atlantic states (including New Jersey) are likely to get snow. :Dou: These people can't catch a break!

Very sad to see and hear this and I feel helpless not being up there to help:( Anything i can send or mail to anyone ? Essential items or anything of use, tools, etc?? Be more than happy to help out and send it if you tell me what you need and an address to ship it to! And before you think of cost factor, its on the house for the Buick brethren and their loved ones/family. I wont take any compensation or money/favors and if you do by chance send me anything it will be rerouted in its original package to your address via overnite delivery. I will request to see you at a Buick event and bench race for a bit!

So tell me what can I do to help? Im not a fan like John was saying of donating to a general entity like Red Cross. Reason and this may sound selfish, I want to see the money i know go to Buick people or people from this board or Buicks that were affected that I may or may not know, but would really make me happy knowing that someone who has the passion for the Tri Shield was getting the help or products they need in this horrible circumstances.

As always my cell is 216 470 8844, or google any BPG event of last few years, my cell phone is all over the net!

Wishing you all the best and fast as possible recovery. To those who lost it all and starting from recovery, it will get better , keep the faith and godspeed you and your loved ones/friends return to as normal as possible of living in this horrendous circumstances.

well, company truck ran out of gas today at noon. Was able to make it back home. All gas stations are closed. I need to go to work!!! I have a ton of service calls that I cant do. Im going to go out at 2am and see if any stations might of gotten a delivery. This is complete insanity. Here we are a week after the storm and the fuel situation has not improved one bit.

btw, I just got a home heating oil delivery. $3.85 a gallon. Cost me $1335 to fill my tank. That hurt. I'll have to refill again come spring.

    >>Jason I was going to try and get gas this morning before heading to work and the Hess station on Vets Hwy (north side) was open with gas at 7am but the line was literally two blocks long! This is really crazy and I hope more gas stations get generators to operate and gas delivered to finally shorten these lines.

    >>Yeah, it was out at least by 1pm as that is when I was returning home and saw the "no gas" sign at the station.

UPDATE- just scored 5 gallons from my neighbor. My neighbor is an electrician and he was doing work at a Marina. They had gas and he was able to fill up quite a few 5 gallon gas cans for friends and family. Just grabbed one off of him as a stop gap. At least I can knock out a few service calls tomorrow and get a good nights sleep to boot.

L.I. forecast is some snow, winds blowing 40-50 mph from the NE with a 2-4 foot storm surge.

    Jason,
Were you the one who said that your GS was your only car with a full tank? Have you drained that tank yet?

Wasnt me. All the cars are pretty low. Jens Boss is at 40 miles to empty and the F-350 has the low fuel light on too!
