That's one model Jim. The rest say it will be pushed out to sea by a cold front. If it did hit, it would occur on the same day as we had the October snow last year.

i heard about this a little today from my fishing buddies. They are getting a little squirrely about it. I'll be pulling the boat out if its starts getting close.

Snow I can deal with. I got a ton of coal and the generator is gassed up. If it's water, I'll need a periscope and that's not good!

The computer models are interesting as they all show it heading straight north and then a good number show it hitting the eastern seaboard while the majority show it taking a sharp turn and heading out to sea. Let's hope the second scenario prevails!

Larry it is more complicated. There are two primary hurricane tracking models. The European model has a history of being better than the US (GFS) model looking way out in time. Thereafter, when the time frame before impact closes, the GFS generally catches up and is the better of the two. We are in the looking way out in time frame. The European model shows Sandy will be captured by an approaching cold front and swing back into the New York//Maryland area. I would not bet either way.

Up this way they have a strange way of forecasting weather. Between the NOAA, weather channel, local reports, and national reports, they usually figure out what the weather is going to be with about 90% accuracy 12 hours after it happens. We've had snow when it was going to be 60's and sunny, and we've had plans cancelled then got 80's and clear. One day about a week ago they forcasted cloudy with 0% chance of rain until 5pm and then scattered showers until 8pm. It was raining heavily from 10 am until midnight. They never even changed the forecast. I sat at my computer seeing 0% chance of rain while it was pouring out.

If they say the hurricane will hit us than I fully believe it'll be the nicest weekend of the fall. If they say the storm won't have any impact than I'll make sure everything is tied down.

The model tracks of Sandy are now split:

Click on the computer models Icon on the right of the map to superimpose the models.

There is some risk that Sandy could become another perfect storm like the Halloween storm of 1991. Stay tuned.

We don't want that again! That system dumped 28" of snow on us way over here in the Twin Cities. 37" in Duluth.

Signed the papers on my first house that Halloween afternoon just as it was starting to snizzle, and didn't get shoveled out and begin to move in until Nov. 5th.

Nope--I look at it as heads up for the NE guys to the risk of this peculiar path.

I busted my butt the last few days to get the intake and carb done and buttoned up just in case winter decided to hit us quick. Every night I looked at the overnight lows and prayed they would stay above freezing until I got the coolant back in the motor and cycled through the system. It sucks having to work in a driveway when winter sets in :(

Got THAT right, Dale. I remember bundling up my little 4-year old daughter in her snow suit to go trick-or-treating that day...no way she was going to give up on that. The little pumpkin trudged through two feet of snow for about four houses, then she said "Time to go home, Dad"
