I agree with Roberta and Bill too. Why let politics, no matter how much it pisses you off, keep you from enjoying it?
Number 20 for me this May.
Back to the original question, yes, it is getting smaller again, but in a lot of ways that's a good thing. Staging lanes aren't backed up to the timing shack anymore.

like the GSCA or not the nats are a good time. politics aside you have to admit the GSCA and Mr. Lasseter have done alot to help our cars get the respect they deserve.

    Like Roberta and Bill said....

I don't have the prettiest or fastest car but that's just fine with me. I like driving around at night, through all the hotel parking lots, seeing people from all over, in there little groups, talking Buicks. And as you drive by, fellow Buick people wave like they know you.....just because you own a Buick. Keep in perspective politics....there are kids sitting in fighting positions right now wondering if they'll have to take another human beings life or maybe lose his own. Don't get mad at something like a change of address snafu even if you think someone is doing it on purpose. Live life while you got it and have fun. Lifes not guaranteed. If there were 12 Buick events, I would try to attend them all.

I attended the 1983 Nationals, and had a ball. Especialy when John Chamberlan(sp) waxed that Chevelle. I will be tring to attend. I even thought about attending in 84 between tech school and Ellsworth AFB, SD.
"I" am not saying anything bad about GSCA. just what I have heard. I do agree that Richard has been one of the driving force, for bringing the Buick GS in to the lime light. As soon as I get a Buick again( or my son gets the 73 Lesabre455.)

I have thought about going this year. Never went before, because I thought it was mainly for racers. What can I expect if I decide to go? Roughly, how many people attend now. Are there parts there, if so, many sellers? Is it racing oriented, or is the emphasis on classic Buicks? Cars for sale? Just give me an ideal, before I leave for a long distance trip.

    John,

All of that and then more. Car show one day, races all the time, large vendor row with lotsa parts for sale, cars for sale, tech sessions, cruises, Holley plant, Corvette plant, etc..... Something to experience at least once

I agree with the idea of promoting BUICKS no matter what the venue. This will be my 22nd year straight for attending the GSCA Nats. I have seen it change over the years, but what hasn't? I've had very good times there, and some not so good! Just like everyday life!! As far as the politics go, I feel as that I personally cann't do much about it, so I just try to put it aside and just have fun! Isn't that what it was suppost to be about in the first place, having FUN? Although the price of attending the nats has gone up, I still think that it is a very good value. As far as a few people making an income from all of this, so be it! Thats called "LIFE" and it happens everyday! Given the same situation the majority of us would have most likely done the same thing. (How it was all accomplished and then handled is another story!)

I have also proudly been a member of the BPG for the past few years, and am looking forward to racing and having fun at the inaugural event in August. I am hoping that it will engrain some lasting memories, just as the GSCA nats have in the past.

Bottom line here is that we need to support Buick events when we can, and where we can, if we expect the Buick script to flourish!
This is all just my opinion!!

I will be there Thurs-Sat at the News Inn, stop by and say hello to me and the rest of the Indiana Chapter.

    News Inn as well

The Carolinas Chapter will be at the News Inn as well.

Not sure if or which car I will bring (I have 2) but I plan to be there like I have for at least 15 years.

It has always been fun for me even if it rains. I have won one of the bracket racing classes twice (started raining at 3 cars left so they tied us for 1st. one year) and got very little money but that doesn't stop me from going back, politics or not.

Larry and Karen Miller and the Carolinas Chapter set up a good car show as well.

I will be there Wednesday through Saturday. I have been at everyone since 1996. I have had a great time every year. There was one year a couple of years ago when we got a lot of rain which put a damper on things and the year the NATS were at Columbus, OH the heat was unbearable. But no one can control the weather. I do not race, but enjoy all of the other things there are to do like the car show, the venders, cars for sale and watching the racing. I have noticed the past few years that there do not seem to be as many people as in the past. I don't if it for lack of interest or the fact that the NATS are in may when school is still in session and people are unable to attend because of the kids. I guess we will find out next year when the NATS are in June. I don't know about the politics. I have always heard rumblings about dissatisfaction, but with an event this big you cannot please everyone. Everybody seems to have a good time and there is an atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie. I highly recommended the NATS and encourage anyone with an interest in Buicks to attend. Like has been said already by many other, we as a group should support and participate in as many Buick events as we can. I hope to also attend the BPG event in Salem in August. Hope to see you all at both events.

    You betcha!!

I'll be at Bowling Green, Salem, and if my off-days hit right at work, I'll be at Norwalk. I'm still relatively new to the Buick car club scene, but I'm loving it. Can't wait to have some fun this year. :TU:

What are the dates for the GSCA Nats in June for next year and where will it be held? I could never make it in May due to my job. I could and would love to go if it moves to the second half of June.

    GS Nats 2005

GS Nationals dates for 2005 are now up in the air. We HAD the middle of June booked but Dallas pulled the rug out from under us and gave it to their NHRA event. The only June dates available next year are June 28- July 2. We are really wrestling with this one because it MAY start getting hot then, plus it is right before July 4th and there will be traffic that weekend. IT COULD be a good thing though, since alot of folks will already have the 4th booked off and they could take a long week, go to the Nats, then return home for the 4th. We are going to see what the weather does for the Nats this year and then use that to help make our decision. Its a tough call -- what do you all think?
