THANK EVERYONE whom posted pix...This has really been enjoyable!!! NICE COLLECTION of MEMORIES INDEED! I'll add a few I came across too. The RustO bucket 1953 is not far from me with the factory Frigidaire AC taking up the entire trunk@!!!
Yeah, that last pic of the poor kid going to school; - boy did that bring me back! I had pants just like that and went with dress shoes too. My shirts were always a bit more conservative, in our neck of the woods if you'd wear something like that in the picture you'd end up getting beat up and those rings would be ripped off. And the lunch kit; - perfect; in 1971 I had a Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote lunchbox with matching thermos. Wish I had a picture; dad drove a 58 Super then too. Keep 'em coming Brian, and thanks for the effort; it's very much appreciated!
I'm guessing we've all had some wardrobe malfunctions. I still think the really wide leather watch bands of the day were cool. Beige car goes with picture in post 40. Great looking full size Buick! Wheelz...love the patina on the 53. The wife might have other ideas, but that right rear door trim on the '53 would look good all polished up and on the wall, wouldn't it?
Nice looking Skylark in your avatar. My brother had the exact same car. It was later nicknamed "The Creamsickle" after it received a 455" and a muncie. Yea, it looks to be elevated on a forklift. Here's another angle.
I had the blue/red plaid as well. I found a pic of me sporting them. My kids had a great time laughing.
...justa note regarding The BUICK DEALERSHIP lot, Brians post #95 and again in post #106...., I owned one of them thar 64 Opel Kadtette Caravans... could hardly getout of its own way but ran like a top... sum'n like 46MPG... Wish I still had that car to cruise about town in..know'd I mean Vern? LOL Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Impressive MPG. Not bad looking either. Looks like GM is shedding Opel to Peugeot. You're quite welcome.
I have a Herb Connolly Buick emblem listed on eBay. That is cool you have a picture from that dealership in your last batch of pictures. Thanks for the GREAT PHOTOS
The wonder wagon pic: my parents had an olds with the 455 and a pontiac too. Loved those things. Everything looks so cool, bright colors, etc. Why is it that at the time things are just another day, then you look back abd say 'gee those good times' or whatever. Anyway as the theme is cars, a time in which people really enjoyed them; they were more than just transportation. Like that b&w one seems to be a bunch of friends who really took pride in their cars, which is why they are in the photo with them.
Win Stephens Buicktown USA! This is the dealer my 1971 Stage 1 Convertible came from as well as my beater 71GS455 Coupe. In the 1980s they used to have Buick car shows there and I used to bring my convertible down there sometimes or one of my dad's old Buicks.
This is a pic of my Uncle's Gas Station in North Syracuse NY. I dont have the time frame. This was in a bunch of pictures I recieved after he passed. I remember hanging out all day with him at his station. Fun times back then!
