Well... anyone thats been to my place knows that I needed more shop space BADLY. I sold 3 of our Buicks this year because I just didn't have the space for them.
We closed on a new house a few weeks ago and we finally got moved in last weekend. I have alot of work to do, but it's a great start...
The house has a small 2 car attached garage (or you could call it a very large 1 car), then theres a "tool shed" I could fit a car in, then theres a 32x48 shop. It's not heated or insulated yet, but I hope to get that done before the white stuff comes.

    A few pics...

Now I wish I wouldn't have sold half our cars. :Dou:
But I guess the cash came in handy for the downpayment. :Do No:

Thanks guys. This has been a long time coming. I built my last shop as big as I possibly could (because of my lot size) and it was 24x32.
It seemed huge when I built it, but it filled up VERY fast!
I'm guessing this one will fill up quick too. :Dou:
But at least my lot is plenty big enough to add on to the shop, or even put up another one if I wanted to.

I plan to put shelving in the "tool shed" so I can put most of my "crap" out there, and stick with "cars in process" in the shop.

David, yeah, I love the deck on the shop too. I've never seen anything like it before. The house also has a concrete patio & a wood deck on it too. They used to have a pool, so the deck is kinda goofy looking right now (with the pool missing), and we don't want a pool so I'll have to redo the deck. The insurance company gave us 3 months to redo the deck because they call it a "hazard" the way it is now. So I guess that'll have to be a priority.

Andy, yes, I've already been looking at lifts, and I will definately have one someday. But I have to heat and insulate this thing first, which isn't going to be cheap. Then I want to finish the basement.....
The wife says I can "have" half the basement to do whatever I want with it. I already own a pool table , ping pong table, guitars, amps, drum set, wet bar, poker table ..etc... I haven't measured my half yet, but it's definately big enough for all that to be set up at once.
I'm seein' one hell of a "man room" in my future!
But thats not going to be cheap either. :(

Kirt... I only have one pic of the inside...
Hard to tell that there's actually 3 cars buried in there already, behind all the crap thats destined for the tool shed (hopefully) this weekend. :eek2:

Let's see. Add on or build another? How about "back-to-back shops!? Look at it this way...you only have to build three walls!:TU: (Okay, okay! So that leans more toward "adding on.")

Now for the deck on the house. How about a hot tub on the deck where the pool used to be? Not as big as a pool but not as expensive as one either. :TU:

As for the lift. Check out "www.northerntools.com". I get ads in my e-mail from them and they have some nice ones in the $2000 to $3000 range.

And for heat, I would definitely go with radiant heat. A bit more expensive to start but heats very well and much more efficiently. Actually heats the solid masses instead of the air so when you open and close the overhead door the heat "radiates" from the floor and walls instead of relying on the heater to "re-heat" the shop.

Oh, and when ya get the "man room" done you'll have to let everyone know and we'll all be over for the party!:Brow:

Oh, and hey, nice pit cruiser!

Okay so now that I have completely "overhauled" your new shop and your house, Congratulations, ya lucky bastard!!
    :moonu: :beer :Brow:

Where can I fond out more about radiant heat?
From a quick search on the web, it looks like that was a decision that should have been made before the floor was poured. (With hot water running through pipes under the concrete?) :Do No:

Or are you talking about something else?

Congratulations Rick!!! It sure looks great. That inside pic has a lot more extra room than that garage I saw back in Tiffin. Have fun with it and remember.....the more room you have, the faster it fills up. I must of missed ya at Salem. Catch ya later.
