1 more thing to note, I just aquired a better Skylark with the same rare option (12 bolt rear built in Mass.) The kicker is that its a Skylark custom, and 1 of 3 that I have found built from the same plant with the same color and options (black vynal top, sea mist green outside). Mine will be used as a donor (too much body work and money to sink in it), hopefully when I'm up and about I will do the transfer ASAP. The body on this new one is nearly perfect and at least presentable when the picnic comes around and will be the last one rolling on the streets with the 12 bolt US combo! The 3rd one I saw went for parts on ebay and was stripped. So the way I look at it is that I still make out on the deal and get the same thing like I already have. I just hate like hell to get rid of my old Skylark, but It has seen better days and shoud be put out to pasture. I will keep you guy informed on how things go, and a big thanks goes to Jake (jakeg's350) for helping me out :TU:

I will post pics as soon as I'm finished with the new project!

    Yeah Lar,

At some point it is best to cut your losses. Yours does need an aweful lot of body work. So, does the new car have a drivetrain?

It doesn't have the trans or the motor, but it has the 12 bolt rear installed already. The second owner took it out, and put in a 10 bolt posi from a GS, but he wants that; I'd rather have the 12 bolt anyway. So the deal is, he puts the 12 bolt back in, I will give him my old one ('cause he wants one) and we are both happy :TU:. The only damage on this car is that the 2nd owner hit a deer with it, so there is hood, grill, and bumper damage...THAT'S IT!! I have seen this car, it's cherry :) ....as soon as I get back on my feet, Jake will help me transfer everthing in the new car. The only thing I'm upset about is losing a functional A/C system thats in my old Skylark....I have to figure out something about that :( . I will post pictures and get them on here as soon as I can :TU:

1 more thing...this car originally came from the Mass. factory with the 12 bolt, just like my old one. So far I have only found a grand total of 3, and mine and this one are the only 2 of the 3 that I know are still on the road (the 3rd was sold on ebay for parts only). So after I get the new one, this will be the last 12 bolt Skylark built in the US from the factory. Pretty cool huh :beer

I have a "BUICK" banner, the kind you see hanging from the light posts at dealerships. Its about 3ft wide by 7ft tall (hangs vertically). It came from the sign company that use to be across the street from where I work, when they moved they left some stuff behind and the maintenance man thought I might like it. Its never been used except in the living room and that was only 'til my wife came home. I'd be happy to bring it if you think we could use it.

    Thanks Marco for bringing TTT!

The picnic is on, and there will be things being discussed soon...I am still recovering from my surgery (its been 2 months already :( ) and the action will pick up soon. We will get a tally of who is going, and then decide who is going to bring what (food items and necessary items). The sign sounds like a great idea and would look great streamed across the tent JerryF. Maybe a preliminary meeting at the park would be in order before everything takes place just to scope out where everything is going to go and where people will be. These things will be outlined soon, and anybodys ideas and questions are still open for discussion. As for me...I'm waiting for my foot to get beter so I can start the ball rolling on the picnic...as well as pick up my new 70 Skylark and get that road worthy for the picnic. The one as my avitar pic has seen better days...I started it today after a month and a half..started up great..just noticed the floors are going BADLY! Well its time to put her to rest and use what I can out of her for the new one, which you guys will see when the picnic comes in June! Hope you guys keep in touch, and once again a HUGE THANKS goes to Marco and the board for helping, and supporting this idea. Words can't express how great you guys are for pulling together and getting this picnic underway! :TU:

If any of you guys are in the area March 30, please read. If a bunch show up we can better prep for the East Coast Region Meet.

The date is set for March 30th, 2003 for the Northeast GS/GN Clubs annual Spring Meet held at Readers Digest in Chappaqua, New York. The usual agenda with elections and upcoming events are to be ironed out. Any member wishing to throw their hat in the election for a position or to participate as an assistant to the Board can do so at the meeting. We welcome all!
For the first time we have opened our invitation to members that participate on the V8 Buick web site and to the BPG members. We are hoping that the weather cooperates and we can have a mini car show at the facilities. So spread the word. There is no obligation for non-members to join up, just bring their Buicks and a few bucks for the eats and come and enjoy the great hospitality from the best members of the oldest and best GSCA Chapter in history! The meeting will be a great place to plan out rides to the various Buick events and to discuss and show off some of our winter projects. The only must do is that you leave a message on the hotline if you plan on attending and how many, so we can have enough food and drinks for everyone. The cost at the meeting is only $10 dollars to cover the cost of the food and beverages.
The management at Readers Digest has been extremely kind to us and give us the location free of charge to the club. For those first time members the meeting is set up inside the building that houses the garage with a huge parking lot out front. We have only one strong request as always to everyone. When driving into the complex please drive slowly as there is video cameras set up throughout the complex with 24 hour security on the complex. So please, NO BURNOUTS!
Also attending the meeting will be a company called the Dent Wizard. For those that are interested, the company repairs small dings and dents in cars with no body work! It is truly amazing how he repairs the cars. I will need to have about 10 members that need service, so let John Csordas know by calling the club hotline. Prices are very reasonable and the more members we get the cheaper the cost becomes for everyone. Please call to let us know.
Direction to Readers Digest is in this issue. For more information or to tell us your coming please call the Club Hotline at 845-528-GSGN or e-mail us at NCSORD4@aol.com. We hope to see many of you there and hope to fill the place!

You can also contac me if you would like to attend.

The park isn't that far from the NJ Shore. Asbury park area, I think. That is prime time for bookings, so you might want to go online to hotels.com or any other booking loacation. Also, see if Hiloday Inn, or Hampton Inn or other hotels have a website that lists locations and look for the north Jersey Shore area.

    Hi Paul -
I work in Holmdel. I'll ask some of the 'locals' for recommendations and post back.

Thanks Marco, If any one can give me driving directions from the Pa turnpike, that would help in locating a hotel online.
    Thanks

Stay on the PA Tpk into NJ and it becomes the NJ Tpk. Then:
from the NEW JERSEY TPKE go 16.0 miles and
Take the Exit 7A exit 0.1
    Continue on RAMP 1.1
    Merge on I-195 SOUTH 10.0
Take the MONMOUTH RD exit 0.2
Turn Left on MONMOUTH RD 0.1
    Continue on CR-537 10.5
    Continue on NJ-79/CR-537 0.2
    Continue on BROADWAY 0.8
    Continue on BROADWAY/MARLBORO RD 1.0
    Continue on BROADWAY 0.4
    Continue on BROADWAY/STATE ROUTE 79 0.2
Continue on MAIN ST/S MAIN ST 1.2
Continue on MAIN ST/N MAIN ST 0.6
    Continue on MAIN ST/STATE ROUTE 79 N 1.1
Turn Right on COUNTY ROAD 520 1.2
Continue on NEWMAN SPRINGS RD 1.7
    Continue on MAIN ST 0.2
Continue on MAIN ST/NEWMAN SPRINGS RD/W MAIN ST 0.4
    Turn Left on HOLMDEL RD

I entered the directions into Yahoo maps to Holmdel Park from Willingboro, NJ (which is not too far from where the PA & NJ Tpks meet).

I live not too far from one of the last exits off the PA Tpk before NJ. Call if you get confused or lost or hungry or thirsty or...
