OK! I called the parks comisson for Holmdel park...There is a 180 dollar fee for a Tent, and a 230 dollar fee for the gazebo. They supply all the grills, benches and tables that we need. Payment is due up front in advance from when its booked. Let me know if you still want to have this picnic....180 and 230 is not much money, I can swing the 180 for the tents for now if you guys would like me to :) . Let me know what you guys think ASAP, I will be laid up for a few days. Here is the number of the parks comission if sombody else wants to reserve this while I'm bed ridden!

    (732) 842-4000

Please let me know what to do today!!

    So...

The real question here is who's in?

$410 divided by many people will not be too bad (20 people is about $20 each).

If not, we need some other suggestions. I doubt Holmdel will reserve this is the very near future, so we probably, at best, have a couple days.

    Who is in?

Sounds fine to me as long as the weather holds and we have enough people. What if it pours rain that day?? Do we get a refund or what??:Do No:

I've been busy being unemployed (you know, sleeping late, eating Campbells soup, etc). This is the New Jersey get together? Where exactly in the State is this place?

Just to clarify what Marco said :TU:

    The choices are:

If you want a tent its 180 "OR" the Gazebo its 230...NOT the combined toatal of both :)

The park is in Central Jersey "Monmouth County". The more people come the less the cost between us, so we need a definite count on how many will be going to this event. I talked with Marco today and he is going to check out the park for himself to see how nice it is :Brow: . I'm sure he will like the place :TU: . Right now were just looking to get a count, and then work out the price between us all..if 20 of us go, then its $11.50 for entry (NOT A BAD DEAL FOR THE GAZEBO) if 50 of us go (like Duane's party) then thats $4.60 EACH!!!!!...Mere change in the ash tray  for us all. Just remember the more the merrier, and the more the better the deal :TU: .

If there is a problem with money and someone wants to go, I'm sure we will work something out. Also remember its bring your own food. The park will supply us with the BBQ's...I'll bring the 2 42 LB bags of coals and starting fluid for cooking (got a Price Club card :Brow: ) and other stuff too.

Let me know what you guys think:TU:

Will we be able to park our cars at the site? Or will we be picnicing a half mile from the parking area? Afterall, we will be standing around the cars all day, and if we never use the tent or gazeebo, or if we will be standing in a parking lot all day a few hundred yards from the site, is it worth it?

    Can you check for us?

The parking lot is shaded and is about 100 feet, or less, away from the picnic area where the gazebo is. Everthing here is a stones throw away...just dont throw stones to find out please  . Marco said he was going to check everthing out beforehand. The area that were interested in is about a 30 second walk to and from the cars, so if you wanna hang around the cars for a while, then go eat something, and come back your DEFINETLY NOT going to be longer then 30 seconds in travel time. Our cars will be in clear view, and easily accessiable at any time. GOOD POINT JEFF :TU: hope this helps out :) I've been to this park hundreds of times, so any questions or concerns I can help out alot. Like I said Marco is going there today, hopefully, and will check everthing out. I'm sure everthing will check out ok with the site  .

If it rains, we would get a refund, or be able to reschedule again....I have to check and see if they will give us Sunday as a raindate...if not, then we could either refund, or reschedule :)

    Hi all -

Here's the deal (I just got off the phone with the parks dept.)

    A torrential downpour - 100% refund
Raining (a good, soaking rain) - $5 processing fee - the rest is refunded
Drizzle - SOL - we lose everything if we don't show up
    No Sunday raindates

The tent is set-up in the 'Pond View' section and the gazebo is set-up in the 'Forest's Edge' section. At 'Pond View' we're a little closer to our cars (by maybe 10 seconds  ) and, as Larry stated, we're about a 30 second walk to our car from 'Forest's Edge'. They also have a playground for young children.

We'll also probably have a lot of spectators showing up as well, since it's a public park - people just looking to take a walk in the park on a (hopefully) sunny day.

Holmdel is off the Garden State Parkway exit 117. The New Jersey Turnpike intersects the G.S. (maybe it's Gran Sport :Brow: ) Parkway at TPKE exit 11 and GSP exit 129. Hope that helps some of you get your bearings.

Shaded parking lots ??? :Do No:

If this is not acceptable to the general group, please post some alternatives. Thanks!

Thanks for checking, and clearing things up Marco :TU: ....lots of trees around the parking lot so there's lots of shade in the parking lots. Hopefully no sun burn this year   .

Ummm.....not to sound cheap, 'cause I'm not and I'd definately pitch in, But what if we dont want a tent or gazeeeebo ?? You cant just use the park ?? ....or you dont get BBQ and picnic tables if we just show up EnMass ??

I'd say if we have to pay, go the cheap route

Your question is understandable Alan...I would assume (dont quote me on it) that we wouldnt get the BBQ's and tables (they set everthing up for reservations). If were looking to go a cheap route we could plan to meet at another spot...we just need some suggestions. Holmdel park is still not set in stone...I was just looking into our options. If a little dough has to be shelled out, then we will go as cheap as possible. I just figured that a state park will accomodate a large group comfortably, with lots of stuff for kids, as well as adults. Heck I would have it at my house if I could accomodate about 50 cars  . If you want to just go as a meeting spot for all of us to hang out, with no food and all, I'm all up for that as well. I just didn't want to see everone get fried again, and get packed in a small back yard :) . The options are still open....if you want to meet at a shore spot for bench racing and other stuff...GREAT! If you want to meet for a picnic...GREAT TOO :), meet up before a car show, that option is great too. If anybody has ideas PLEASE let us know I'm all ears :TU:

I dont want to give the impression that I'm being forceful here...I just want all of us to have a good time with the least ammount of cost involved. If you have an idea, SUPER! :)

    OLDS442GM Going Fast With Class!

Alan...I understand your concern, and its greatly appreciated, thats why were discussing it before we do anything at this point. We want to get everone opinion first before we make a jump here. If only 10 people will comit, then I would be awfully concerned about whats going on here. If more then 20 then we will go ahead with the idea. If we dont reach a certain number then we have to come up with other ideas to accomodate the situation. Very good point Alan, and I can understand why (I've been burned before too). I just want to make sure everyone get a fare shake on the deal as well  .

If nobody shows after the money is delt, then I'd be awfully steamed too :af:    .

It's still a buick isnt it Bill  . I think the tent will work out better and cheaper. If anybody has any other ideas please let either myself, or Marco know. I will be laid up for a while with my surgery and all. I will possibly be able to get back on a few days after tomorrow, and see what you guys think. Remember the tent rental is only 180 for the entire day...thats from dawn til' dusk. I hope everything works out and goes smoothly...and thanks again all for the support :TU:

Marco and Ray....you guys have my number...if you need me for anything do not hesitate to call...I will be bed ridden for a day or 2, but I will take calls .

According to this post I count 8 so far...not too bad...lets get a few more and make it BIG!! :beer

    Thanks again guys!

    Larry & Marco,
Count me in, that date is fine. The biggest problem we might have is the weather. I'm sure plenty of Buicks will be there.:beer
