Has anyone ever broken a girdle in HALF?ou: This has to be the worse one my buddy Doug has had in a long time!!!:blast: The oil is spotless and the valvetrain is OK? Looks like the Block just decided to split in half!!!:dollar: What a mess and it was running so fine!! Doug we will fix it !!!
Doug, sorry to hear about another motor....and girdle to boot! I can hear you saying.."no problem i can make more:dollar: " Good luck guys.
Hey Rob, that looks exactly like the motor I loaned Doug a few years back at Norwalk, is that #3 rod that let go? same as my eng. and yes the girdle was broken in three places and bent down nearly 3/8". Doug is no longer known as the "Heckler" will call him "The Destoyer" Bruce
Holy Sheeeeet. ou: There was some serious destruction going on this weekend. Several engine ventings and a couple bearing spins. Including me. :ball: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQoxg1QpGNo Listen on the return road. I couldn't hear it till I took off my helmet. :af: It's coming out anyway to go in my new car. :bla:
Sorry to hear about Dougs episode. Price you pay to make class go that fast!!! But please keep us posted as to when you guys go to a track.
Doug Buddy... If I ever ask you to run my car, Crack my skull...ou: lol The Terminator should be a likely candidate for a name. Was still great to meet up with you on saturday.:TU:
Holy crapazoid.:eek2: :eek2: That's some serious carnage. Then again, if you're going to break, make sure it's spectacular.
Those appear to be alum rods.....if so....I have heard/read/been told that they are good for 200-300 passes before they get work hardened and then they have a catastrophic failure as Doug's engine shows. How many passes Doug?
I dont understand why doug goes though so many Engine's, When was the last time Rob C lost an engine. I know i cant remember. Is it maybe too many rpms ? Dont take it this the wrong way Doug, I dont think there was alot of runs on that Engine..
I think thats the old aluminum rods. The material there made from today is way better then the old days, I have a 494 4000lb street/stirp car running around out there, GRP has had reports of guys with over 40,000 miles and still going. Heat cycle use to be hard on them, they wanted you to preheat the oil, not any more. What killes aluminum rods is deceleration thats why they have come out with shifters and valve bodies with 2 neutrals PRN123N. In a low HP application like Dougs they should last for ever:laugh: ........Chris
Time for a New block Doug, I'd try an wait for TA, or build one more and keep the rpm's under 7500. seems like thats whats killing the motors.
