I also agree. I’d like things to get back to the norm. So vaccine it is. My dad is well past retirement he was hospitalized for 5 days. No tv, jail food, just lay in a bed in a huge facility with strangers. Couldn’t see him for those 5 days. Get covid or take the vaccine. For all the non believers or conspiracy theorists I rather die with my family then be the last man standing because of fear of the vaccine. Yes I have medical condition that I had to highly consider weighing out.

I had a similar issue start a few months ago - Gets worse when I sleep. Most prevalent in shoulders and radiating down my arms but also in hands/wrists (doesn't help that almost broke one wrist using a drill) & legs. Pretty sure I have Polymyalgia Rheumatica. Check this out:

    https://www.rheumatology.org/I-Am-A/Patient-Caregiver/Diseases-Conditions/Polymyalgia-Rheumatica

I have an appointment w/rheumatologist this month. In the meantime I started taking anything I could that was a natural anti-inflammatory and it's either helped or was a coincidence. Omega-3 (1500 mg Fish oil), glucosamine mix, turmeric ( needs to be w/black pepper for absorbtion), ginger (raw - about 10g/day) and Cinnamon (I just chew on 3-4 Cinnamon sticks - Saigon Cinnamon is more common but has a bad side effect in excess so I mostly have Ceylon or Cassia).

    Hope this helps.

Got first Phizer shot last week, second one in late March. After 21 years in the Navy I've gotten the smallpox shot, anthrax shot, who knows what I got while going through the shot turnstile at boot camp, sat in asbestos filled building at Great Lakes and down in Pensacola, and who knows exposed to what type/how much radiation was serving onboard numerous Navy ships. And then there's the food on Navy ships during an 11 month deployment, some of that was pretty sketchy. Covid vaccine is pretty low on my list of concerns on what gets me first in the next 20 years. Cheers, best of luck to all.

I don't think there is a one size fits all answer to this.. each individual has to evaluate their risk factors, and balance that against the risk of taking the new drugs out that limit how sick your going to get.

While I understand that the textbook definition of the word "Vaccine" includes the meaning "an agent that ameliorate the effects of a future infection" I think the common understanding of that word is that it prevents you from getting an infection. Like most Vaccines do..

The current generation of drugs does not prevent you from getting or spreading the infection, just limits the effects. The only thing it "cures" is hospital overcrowding.

If your in a high risk category then you should do anything possible to limit the effect of the virus. Long term side effects are not that much of a concern when your 85..

The young and healthy among us should cast a wary eye on something that statistically they don't need, and no one knows the long term effects of. Many of those in this age group are asymptomatic, and don't even know they contracted it. No serious study has been done to date to find out how many folks like this are running around out there.. could be millions by now.

I think those of you in my category.. in my 50's, generally healthy, have the hardest choice to make. I personally, when it becomes available will get it.. I have enough additional factors that the risks of severe illness outweigh long term side effects to me. I was in the hospital last year for the first time in my life, don't care to ever go back.

But most importantly, I am looking forward to getting everything back to normal, and to do that, a substantial portion of the population has to get the virus, to develop herd Immunity. Only when we develop that will get our lives back.

I look forward to drag races and ball and stick sports with full stadiums, packed county and state fairs, and relegating the masks to the scrap heap.

I don't think there will be any ill effects in the long run. it's a perfectly rational fear to have but I think it's not neccesary.

The culmination of knowledge that went into these shots is astounding. a five year study was surely valuable for the polio vaccine but likely was not needed for these. I'd bet a cold beer that every single "ingredient" in any one of the vaccines is already regularly used in other treatments and has been through the full gambit of testing. The collaboration, network of knowledge, and ease of access to medical studies has never been better. both of my parents are in research. when I was a kid they used to go to summits a few times a year to network and share findings.. the amount of knowledge shared between researchers is infinitely greater today than it was 15 years ago.

Probably most of this combination has been thoroughly studied already. sure this is a unique combination but there is probably less than .0001% this will turn into trouble on a mass scale. the researchers are sure as hell smart enough to think about the future..

As an old phart I remember the Polio epidemics of the '50s. I have a friend who contracted Polio and has never walked without crutches since. When the Salk vaccine came out my mother had me as close to first in line as she could. I never got Polio and I don't know of any current cases. The Salk vaccine was developed quite rapidly and was safe and effective. I got the first of my Covid shots as fast as I could (Florida's rollout of the drug has been a total cluster f---). I'll get the second one through my doctor's office at the end of March.

I had all the childhood vaccines in the 60's and plenty more when I joined the Marines. And then back in 2001 I went to Russia to work for three months and got several more shots/vaccines. I guess one more won't hurt...

When I got my shots here in FL it went really smoothly, and was well organized. It was done by the county at the senior center. Got the appointment, went to the center, got checked in, filled out the paperwork, got the shoot and was out of there in a little over 30 minutes, including the 15 minutes you need to wait after the shot in case of a reaction.

Florida is giving the vaccine by county. Some counties such as Lee are doing a good job. I live in Collier and here it's horrible.
