this is my all time favorite "store"

try not to be so closed minded guys, theyre into the same stuff you are, they just arent as mature as you are, give them a while,
Now IF they were into the same stuff, they'd be driving Buicks right? That is the disconnect. If they want to run at the drags, buy a car that was intended for it. It isn't money, you can pick up cheap rear drive American cars and rod the heck out of them for far less than what they spend on a Civic. I respect the fact that they are having fun with cars, more power to them. They are just painting on the wrong canvas. Why isn't that as obvious to them as it is to us?

You've got it mixed up. There's the import crowd (real car guys that do modifications to make their cars fast) and then there's the rice(r) crowd who do the giant wings and the idiotic body kits with 50lbs of stickers everywhere. I'll always respect the import crowd no matter how fast they go but a ricer has to run at least a 12 to be worth anything. Nothing screams "I run 19's in the 1/4" more than a huge bodykit.

Not related to ET, but to "ricers." I don't mind the body panels so much when the person who owns them doesn't try to claim it makes it go faster.

When their attitude is, "It doesn't help peformance, I just like it," I can respect that.

    gotbuick What, me worry?

This thread gives me a chuckle. A couple years ago I subscribed to natural aspiration, bigger is better attitude.
I felt myself ignorant when I began exploring modern technology. So instead of fighting it I embraced it. Earlier this year we purchased an 06 WRX sedan. I even bought a new duramax diesel pick-up to get the turbo power with more on tap. Upgrading power is simpler too.

    06 WRX 309 WHP (stock 200)

    06 Duramax 480hp/900tq (flywheel hp)

Had to throw that in, american muscle still flies high.

'71buickg.s. a dark and stormy night..

i bought my civic for 700 dollars... sold the head on it for 650 and bought a new engine for 900... doesnt sound too bad to me..... hey dee :moonu: :moonu: i cant believe youre STILL upset i beat the sex machine! that was like two years ago!! just because i drive an import, doesnt mean im a ricer. my first car was a skylark, my second a turbo buick.. i just couldnt afford fixing them, gas, and going fast... so i made what i thought was a smart move.. i bought an import.. turned out i bought a quick import... sold it, and bought one i like the looks of, and integra, for 1700, it had terrible leather seats and ripped up door panels, blown shocks, and no exhaust. i put a free muffler on it (oem) and just picked up new seats front and rear, as well as door panels, in perfect condition for 275. next is shocks, then paint, (just plain black) and then im done with it. it gets like 35mpg and im happy with it. my import friends are into motor swaps, turbos, all motor high compression builds and speed. nobody has body kits, wings, stickers or crazy paint, are we ricers?

I'd say no. I can respect the guys who are more concerned with performance than displaying their extreme lack of taste and need for attention.

Call me funny, but I don't care how fast a full blown ricer is, they won't have my respect.

I'm not STILL upset about that. My car was running like a dog (and dying on the track) so everyone was beating me.

The sex machine still has a few quirks, but they might be worked out this weekend. It is running 100% better than that time we lined up. :beer

I'm just upset that I won't have a rematch at the Bash this weekend because you moved away. I would have blown your doors off!!! :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:

You and your dad will be missed at this Bash this weekend. :ball:

And with this on the fender, I don't have to go fast! :Brow:

Hey Doug, you are old!!! :moonu:

Aluminum slots were in back in my high school days. Saved a lot of weight over Cragars! I'll still have a set of "slots". Anyone want to buy them? They have to be antique by now. :Dou:

The racing stickers made my Buick a lot faster too! :3gears:

those slots look cool Dee :)
I don't care for imports much, especially the "fart can" exhaust, the gawdy wheels,/ ground effects, paint jobs etc.I ran across a few at a labor day car show, nice folks, and they were inpressed seeing the 430 in my regal.well, acually they REALLY took notice when I left a pair of 80' marks on the street as I went home ( a posi is nice to have ) :3gears: :3gears: :TU:

OLD?? I believe we're just about the same age my dear! Regarding wheels..... just a few weeks prior to buying the Grand Prix in late July of '81....I totalled my 4-speed '69 SS396 Chevelle, racing a guy I went to high school with, who's dad had just bought him a '76 Trans Am. Whipped his a$$ three times and was beating him again for the fourth time when a carload of girls in a Maverick pulled out in front of me. I managed to just graze the Maverick and plowed into a tree, wrapping the Chevelle around it. I only mention the Chevelle because, it too had aluminum slots on it. Ansen wheels, I believe. Sorry, no picture. I only owned it three weeks and never got a chance to take pics.

So you pulled the motor on a brand new truck to get flywheel hp? Or is that more of a guess based on completely non-standardized "drivetrain loss" percentages?

I'm sorry to come off that way I just absolutely LOATHE the Isuzumax. Nothing personal :)

my civic rolled on 14 inch black steelies, and had a dented in quarter panel, both doors on the driver side (yes it was a sedan) and a pushed in fender... imagine the look on a guy with a gt with exhaust and gears as he was passed by a lowered family sedan! yeah, it sucks we moved away, but ill be back in texas soon for basic!

Using the factory rating of 360 hp plus 120 hp Predator chip. I haven't dyno'd it yet.

I don't know what's not to like about isuzu/GM engine. Other than the fact that it's quite and powerful. :Do No:
