This one too,the tires aren't spinning but it is smoking :beer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bM3So0U1BMQ
Every once in awhile, just for kicks, yeah. I had a '66 Le Mans (yeah, boo me!) with a Stage III 400, Turbo 400 trans and 3.55 rear gears in it that would lay 60 feet of tires marks going into 3rd. Best race I ever got in on Van Nuys Boulevard was with my dad's 300 HP 327 in the trunk for ballast.

If it's not in the big Kenworth loaded heavy into the sun set out west or just home and jump in Shirls Skylark I have to get my "fix" every so often . But Safety is #1 before anything ...
True, anyone can do a brake stand type burnout. :boring: I fall asleep watching those. I like the burnouts where you mash the pedal and the motor does all the work and all hell breaks loose. This to me is true excitement. Brake stands were cool when I was 13 years old.
I vote NO. For traction only. I don't mind a goofing off and chirping the tires or nailing the throttle and get a little squeal out of 'em. But to sit their and burn 'em for no reason does nothing for me. :3gears:
My 2 Boys (aged 13 and 15) Have NOT experienced one in person YET, I have been building the suspense for some time and well they will feel the power and excitement SOON. My oldest Boy is going to pass out. I started one the other day when they were in the back seat. The back end of the car started to rise and the tires spun maybe 1 turn and I let my foot off the break, I thought they were both going to go through the roof. So when I do finally finish them off the VIRGIN feel will be done, but the love will last a life time. I love being a DAD. Better not do it around Mom though, I get is S*&T every time we buy a new set of Boots.
I did it for the boys at the Corvette Conspiracy shop in Cleveland OH. They asked me if I needed some water, Ha Ha Ha, what do you think? I gave them all 3 gears and then rolled off into the sunset. There was 3 of us in the car also. I guess the cops came over and complained to the owner the next day about burnouts in front of his shop. He He.
We made a burnout video in 2007 check our youtube site for more vids: http://www.youtube.com/gofastbuick Play the below video <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YX9-IR8wT9w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Brake pedal, no brake pedal. Whatever. Just light 'em up any way you can! Don't get me wrong, I still like the way my car hooks up and takes off. I'm just glad to see I am part of the voting majority on this. You can check out some of my burnout videos via the links below.
Some may think Im too not cool for saying this, but unless you are warning the hydes for a drag race, tires are expensive and cops around here have no sense of humor about that sort of thing. With the right tire/suspension/axle set up, hooking up and accelerating like a bat out of hell out of the gate or stop light, banging and chirping through ALL the gears from a dead stop is a much bigger rush than roasting the hydes at a standstill, and a mostly stock gn/gs's is well suited for planting you back in your seat for a rocket launch. (cops not too happy about that game either) My wifes van can roast a tire, but thats not cool, just a waste of gas and rubber. :dollar:
Yes they are great where they belong, right before you make a run down the strip. Then unless you are driving a Top Fuel car they don't need to be too crazy. Modern slicks do not need the crazy burn-outs some use. Otherwise they are stupid-- including the NASCAR drivers after they win....I hate them. Jim N.
