No security cameras anywhere? Across the street, down the block?

I'd ask Wayne Roberts to help out. You have the VIN number on the title,he has the other important info needed to help identify the car..IE.color,A/C auto,etc..It's worth asking or even paying for it..

I would keep an eye on ebay and Craigslist for a sudden surge of GSX parts for sale. Unfortunately that will be this cars fate if it's not recovered soon.

I am working with the widow and trying to encourage her to do all of the above. She’s in Detroit and I am in Florida.

Something like this happened to my wife's 67 Barracuda. Turned out the storage facility manager was involved. There were several cars stored there that disappeared, all Mopars

That’s what I’m afraid of here… There were many people around Detroit who knew Dave and knew about the car. I hate to think that it is being cut up and parted out…

I have contacted Rich Johns and I am hoping that he will also respond here as well as give some insight into anything that he knows about the car.

Didn't that white X that James in Detroit had go to Then & Now restorations?
I met James at a State Fair swap meet & bought two wheels off that white X way back in early 90's.

Yes Mart, we picked up that car from James, Mark Reeves restored it. Mark took it to Barrett Jackson scottsdale where it brought around $57,000. I believe that was one of the highest selling GSX’s to date at that time. Rich John’s picked up some of the other parts that James had in the garage over there where the car was stored. I met Dave Agee, at the fairgrounds car show/swap meet and we became friends and had been ever since the early 80s.

This just came in from another local (Detroit) guy who is friends with me and is familiar with this area:

“The last time I saw this car was probably 10 years ago. It sat for years in a storage lot of a truck wash on Joy Rd east of Middlebelt. The people that ran the place said they used to take phone numbers of people interested in buying it all the time. It sat so close to the road you couldn’t miss it behind the fence. There was a challenger that set next to it forever also. A lot of parts were missing on it back then. I didn’t look at super close but I had doubts it was real. I will keep an eye out for it.”

Something sitting next to it in the car lot burned. That’s how it got damaged.

Darren my friend.....i hope this all works out for everyone involved...you especially ! Right now the world is on fire and it feels to me like NOTHING is ever going to be the same from this point on.
Lots of rare/desirable cars have went missing in Detroit over the years.....never to be seen again.....hopefully today's technology will go to work and find this car....is there a REWARD offered for info leading to the car ?......that could be the needed spark.....$5,000.00 might be a good investment if it gets the car back.

In late 60's, my dad's 67 SS 396 4spd Chevelle got stolen & never found in Detroit. Red, blk top & interior.
I've tried with insurance companies to find the Vin # because there is an exact car by me that I'd like to check out to see if it's his stolen SS.
Anyone know how to find vin# from 67? Insurance Co records don't go back that far or they don't keep them on file.
Maybe dept of trans.? Sec of state?
That'd be a story. SS Chevelle stolen 55 years ago, recovered....:)

It's going to be up to the old lady to call the police and file a report against the storage company. Assuming she was current with her bill they gave her property to someone else. A visit from Barney may refresh their memory as to where the car went.

I'd bet it'll end in court and she'll get a check for the value of the car. Being a burned up car I'd bet she's going to get <5k even though its a GSX.

Fire damage looks to be external only.

I agree but the insurance company for the storage lot won't be friendly about it and they will do what insurance companies do- anything they can to pay the least out possible
