lt1 in with a 4l60e 4 speed auto built transmission.. The engine is from a 1995 Z28 and redone to the Corvette lt4 specs plus a little more juice on the injectors and computer programing... 373 posi in the rear - fast ratio steering box.. hope it make for a good combo - modern power plus turn key drive fun.. Now for the scary part - I am modifing this all at the same time so I am not sure how the combo is going to work out but a lot of guys over on the Chevelle sites have done something similar and seem to be very happy with the end result.. I am going to try and click off a couple of pictures this weekend and add to my profile to show where I am with this.. FAR FROM COMPLETION..... :dollar: :dollar: AND MORE DOLLARS TOO SPEND..
LT1 in a Buick... Nice. How far along is the project? Where are you in Pittsburgh, I'm in Castle Shannon? Dave
hi dave, I live in South Park so I am not far from you. The Buick in your Avatar is yours ? a real GS455 ? looks good.... If i didn't have so much already invested in the direction that I am going with the lt1 I would be working on a 455 also.. I had a 455 olds years back in a 71 442 that I built and that thing was crazy strong.. It had the original Hurst his and hers dual gate shifter, really cool... - I have kicked my self many a time for letting that one get away.. ... Hind site not 20/20 back then... As for my current project I am doing a 72 buick skylark gs lt1/lt4 resto mod. Still have a long way to go to say the least... I just dropped the hood off today to have a metal scoop section from a GS hood graft in so I hope it works out - was kind of leary doing this to a perfectly good flat hood but then so much of this car has already getting reworked I figure add it to the list.. This project will soon be coming to a halt for the winter as my working space is limited.. Talk to you again.. thanks...
mt. washington here I know ithe seaon is over, but you all should stop by caste village every sunday or something next time spring rolls around
been to Caste Village - lot of nice cars there. My neighbor is a regular fixture at that gathering. He has an older 70ish vette with a stroker.. real clean ride.. I do need to get out more to these and talk to the Buick owners - I just look and keep walking but really should take time to chat. Will be nice when I can roll up with mine but at the current pace I'm working on it wont happen till 2012...ou:
How are things in PA? Is it a car friendly state? I know in some areas the cost of living is pretty low, and I like the idea of the open spaces and mountainous regions. I am considering moving out their after I finish up in school.
PA is cheaper than NY. We have more tax collectors that nickle & dime you throughout the year. (Commonwealth means spread it around) $5 bucks here, 1.25% there, County property tax, District school tax, State income tax. No tax on food or clothing, yet. Booze & Beer are controlled by the state. It's where the politicians park the people that helped them get elected. We moved back to PA from the Mid West. Wife & I were born & raised in W.PA, grew up in the heyday of the steel industry and watched it's decline. We really like the Harrisburg area. Car friendly? you bet. We live near Hershey & Carlisle. It doesn't get any better if you like cars.
That all doesn't sound too bad to me considering how nice of a state PA is, I drive through frequently and I always enjoy my trips. I would love to have a house built out there with lots of property and privacy so neighbors can't complain about loud music or cars:TU: Down in lower NY that is alot to ask for, you have to go up towards Canada to find reasonably priced property and privacyo No:
Hi - I live in Indiana, PA. Have a Wildcat 355 in a 64 LeSabre convertible with 58,085 miles. Clean car but has been repainted in the past. I wanted to get a paint job this winter and change the top. What I really need is some advice/suggestions on where to get my convertible top done [or not done] here in the Pittsburgh area. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your help, Matt
