I'm fairly new to the hobby, built a couple engines in a class and have plans to soon build up a 430. I was just wonderring if there are any local board members around in case i need help or advise. Any clubs or organizations around here?

Also want to know if there are any good, buick knowlendgable machine shops around Pittsburgh that won't try to rape a newbie. Any good places to find decent parts, etc. I don't know of any good yards that have vintage cars.

Me and my brother just built a killer 430. The machinework was done in New Brighton and Zelienople.

Good luck on your build up!!

Cool, I'll have to keep you guys in mind in the future. I'll definatley be looking up those clubs too. Anyone else? I know Tony is around Pittsburgh too, that's all though...

Floydsbuick, do you know the names of the places you went to? Good prices? What bore & stroke did you end up putting in that 430.

My 430s bore? About 100 over! That makes it a 455 now. BTW, thats not a cheap overbore.

The Machine shop is Domhoffs in Zelie/Harmony PA

I'm a former 'burgh resident. I live a few miles north of Clarion now. My brother (ratroaster) lives in Boardman now. My folks still live down there though. There aren't really any local Buick clubs. We tend to hang out and drink beer. Sometimes we go to the cruise up on RT 19 north of Wexford. The flashlight drags are kinda cool too. There's the one in Zeilianople and the new one in Clarion (obviously this is the one I will be going to)

The machine shop Don and me go to is ICS. The number is 412-366-1009. Bobby runs the place and knows Buicks. He used to work at Rebcos in Millvale. He left and opened this shop about 3 years ago. I think John Cordial (turbo guy) uses him as well.

What part of the 'burgh are you from??

Sweet, I'll be calling these guys up before too long. I live on the North Side, just above the stadiums. Clarion is pretty close, my buddy (nothingface5384 and I might have to come over some day to see your fantastic collection!

You should plan on attending the Wexford Starlite cruise on Friday nites. Anywhere of 700 to 1200 cars. A number of us like to gather there. Frank

Ohh! So you want to go to the car farm do ya?? You'd like it there. Rotton old Buicks laying in the field and a few nice ones in the barn. I think my brother is planning to drop another Regal off. I have alot of Ford trucks laying around too (and a Jeep--with paddle tires). BTW...Please put you name in your sig. I like to address people by their name instead of their username (yeah I know I'm pretty selfish).

    Frank,
What do you drive?? I'm sure I've seen your car there. I only made it to one last year and my brown Skylark decided to pee tranny oil all over. I made a little dam out of rags so no one would notice. It's amazing what a loose kickdown cable bolt can do.

  11. Im from Da Burgh. In fact my chapter of the BCA will be down at the custom car show this weekend with our Buicks. Including my wifes 67 Skylark. I belong to the BCA and we have a chapter called the Pittsburgh Tri-Shields if you interested send me a PM and Ill get info out to you. Or just drop down to the convention center and check out our cars.

1957 Super Riviera 4 dr hardtop
    1967 Skylark(Wifes)
    1977 Electra LTD (mine)

Sweet, I wasn' sure whether or not I wanted to head down there, nothing but Mustangs at the last show I attended, but this'll give me the swift kick-in-the-arse I needed to come down with my buddy and a good camera!

I don't think I've seen that one. I've known Phil for a while now. I met him the summer I bought my first Buick in 1997 (the GS). Met him at the Syria Mosque (the new one near RIDC Park on rt 28). He just finished his restoration and that was its first car show.

I actually live in Wexford. We moved from Shaler in April. I have a 68 GS California race car. A few different people in the club have owned the car over the years. I have had a few other Skylarks and GSs over the years. Once we get our motor issues straightened out with the race car we will start looking for a street car again. I never should have sold the white 68 convertible at the nationals in 2000. I wonder what ever happened to that car ??? Oh well...Welcome to the club. Where do you live in W PA ?

when and where are these cruises held?

I bought my 67 special from a guy in Wexford, beauty of a car, and a damn shame. Just saw a 64 riv sitting in a mechanics lot today, wish I had some money to offer for it. Decent body but needs full resto.

  18. James if the 64 Riv your referring to is the white one on RT 51 ... thats less than a mile from my house. Just went past it tonight myself running the Buicks down to the convention center. In fact I know the guy who owns the shop.If you are in the South Hills area , theres a good Sunday evening cruise at Caste Village during the summer months . Gets about 3-400 cars a week.

Whoa, yeah that's the one that broke my neck. Had to stop and give it a good look over. I don't know where Castle Village is but I find out when it gets around to the car cruise weather.

  20. Caste Village is about 2 miles from where that Riv is sitting. The easiest way I can give you to get there, is to get off 51 at 88. Take 88 about 1-1/2 miles out to Grove road and make a left.Stay on Grove road and eventually you will see a strip mall off to your left and a Giant Eagle market on your right. The strip mall is Caste Village. Theres a shorter way to get there from 51, but this way is the easiest
