You've got to be kidding. This guy screwed you over, basically destroyed your car and now wants $3200 to fix it and you're going to let him. C'mon, wake up and get the car the heck out of there. Find somebody else who is reputable to fix it. Remember screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me.

The $3200 is to finish the whole car AND fix the motor and I will not give him a dime until it is done......
IF it gets done it seems my best way out at this moment. Al came with me and he agrees that we should give him ONE more chance. :af:

I guess I am a sucker.....I look for the good in people when there may be very little in this case......

I sure would like to get some sleep.....

My reaction is that he's asking for way less than it will take to do what you described. Right away I'm suspicious that he's just going to take some more money off you and you're not going to get anything back. If possible, I'd haul it out of there as is, then take him to court if you have the initiative to get payback.

Bruce - If you continue down the road with this guy at least have YOUR engine shop do the work and submit the bill to him. DO NOT let him be the "contractor" on the motor rebuild - YOU take control of that, at least :Dou:

.....its just one more thing this guy is going to phoque up

I have to agree with everyone else here too, my advice is to cut all deals and get the car. At the very least, for gods sake don't give him any $$ until it's done to your satisfaction, including the work that was supposed to be done under your original agreement.

    Don't fall for it.

I have been in a similar situation as where you are now.
I know that you want to have it all work out with this shop. It is the easiest of all scenarios. The shop owner knows the way you are thinking and will prey upon you and your wishful thinking.
Remember that actions speak louder then words and in 4 1/2 years he has shown you very little action. His words are cheap!

Go get your car; DON'T GET DIABOED!

Hey Bruce.Another opinion..much like the rest!! Being in the car business we could not operate the service/bodyshop in this fashion and stay in business.I know that stand alone bodyshops are on a different level than a dealership, but business is business. There seems to be a major lack of respect here for the customer(you)and your vehicle.Classic cars are better off in a proper "Restoration" establishment IMHO.Good Luck.Later,Tony.

You got it AL......every minute that goes by those rings and cylinder walls are rusting! There might be water actually in the cylinders! I'd like to be there when it's cracked open. Hey.....at least it wasn't saltwater!

    How's that for optimism?

When you two check on the car at the end of the week you should show up with a trailer in tow just in case. Say nothing about the trailer.
The message will be more than clear.

There are a lot of so considered car people out there, they seem so good as heard from but when you give them the work to do and see the finish, it's not so good. I hope everything works out fine, and the car is alright other than the problems listed. :TU:

This whole deal is the reason that when I set up shop I plan to take one car thru the end one at a time. That way the car has my undivided attention till its done. !!! Way too many shops takke in 3 or 4 cars then they can never finish one without throwing several to the back burner!!! I see it WAY to many times. Too many Buicks rest in the back of shops and never get the attention they were promised...................

    Exactly Mike.
This guy has about 8 cars in "progress" and very few people working there. I'm always amazed at the number of things supposedly being worked on.

    At least they are INSIDE!

I think I got the noose tied right. No guys..... not for me!!!
