Go get it in person and ask politely for a cashiers check or cash. A check from him will never clear.
Have a lawyer friend write him a letter. One that looks official (unless you are actually going to sue, then do a real letter) to bluff him into writing a check. Can't hurt to try.

If he gives you a bad check, just keep returning it to the bank . . . over and over and over and over until the charges begin to really stack up on him. You can also call the bank and see how much you'd need to deposit to get the check to clear. That's right, if you're okay on at least getting 80% (or whatever) of the check, then you can personally deposit some of your cash and clear the check at the same time. Just a thought.

2nd check's in the mail. Yeah, right :blast: I'll have to take time off from work and go up there....again. My other thought was to write a letter and CC my lawyer. He is getting off easy at $1500 compared to him getting and bill for R and R engine and rebuild....not to mention all the crappy bodywork that will need to be re-done. Hey AL I've been trying to get him to pick up the phone. Left a message saying that it is going to cost him alot more if I have to get my attorney involved. Lord have mercy ....he called me back and left a message. Sounded like he was losing it. Rambled about how often the post office screws up and that registered and priority that he has sent people has taken up to 5 weeks. He swears he has sent 2 checks. And finally : "YOU WILL GET YOUR MONEY!" We'll see.... Still might have to choke it out of him in person. I'd love to have Mr Heckler with me/us. :laugh:
