All I know is that if we have a chance to get alum heads then we need to get all over it and call Mike and let him know how serious we are....

I know I can meet my goals with ported iron heads however the alum heads could allow me to make more power with less boost!

I am calling first thing in the morning!

The intakes for the 455 head are done. We will be doing the the exhaust ports this week. Then the digitizing and billet heads. Then the 600 cfm canted valve heads. It sounds fast and easy on the Board but it is very time consuming. We started with raw solid castings. There is nothing to start with on the 350. I will be talking to Mike about a 350 head soon!

Thanks for your interest in the 350 heads Ken! Great work with the new BBB heads as well! Please keep me posted about the 350 project after you talk to Mike. :TU:

Sbb 350s will mostly be melted down as scrap by then:(,theres less and less of them as it is now. I think the heads should of came out 15 years ago,can we do them now,and send them back 15 years? Or in 2018,that would be send them back 20 years ago.

The longer its put off,the more likely it won't get done, unless Sean can add to his stockpile way way way more than he has now.:grin:If I can make sbb 350 heads work on a sbb 300 I would be interested in a set,but probably not to build a sbb 350(not this year anyway). The donor engine I bought for the crank,I tried to give the block to my machine shop guy for free, and he didn't want anything to do with it. That would probably be a different story if those aluminum heads came out 15 years ago,he has no problem accepting sbc block donations,he doesn't even want a sbb 350 block for scrap. :spank:

Probably an single plane intake should be fast tracked on the top of the list to be made first before the heads(while they're working on the heads) for people who would spend a few $$ to make a good running sbb 350 that go to a track to get some inerest from other racers.(that is if they can get it to run as good or better than brand Xers):Do No:

And not to mention good pistons, and rods are needed also to lighten the rotating assembly, and have good quench(I know, that the horrible factory fully skirted dish style piston would work better with after market closed chamber heads that would give them some quench, but they are still to heavy, and so are the too short cast rods).

Most people want to just open a catalog and have everything right there ready to buy and assemble(I really don't mind the challenge though). They don't want to have to think about how to fit a different part,or alter something to fit,or have to order pricey custom stuff that they have to explain what they want made. And the reason for that is,most people don't have a clue how to do things like that, and don't want to pay extra for a machine shop to figure it out for them on top of the added cost of customs,if you can find a machine shop smart enough to work on Buick engines.:puzzled:

So if these heads have a chance to be made, sooner would give TA a better chance to sell them than later. Remember Buick stopped making the 350 sbb 32 years ago,so the longer it takes, the less interest they'll be(and less old Buick cars on the road),and less likely they will be made.:ball::(:ball:

I've got cash in hand and ready to take delivery! I had my bottom end rebuilt in '09 and have been lurking
the forum ever since, and was just calling around my area for reputable head rebuilders when I read this.
Let's carve those bad boys, I'm ready!
    Quick questions, though. IF they are being engineered now;
    1. Will they have the extra water passages like the later heads, or be compatible with all blocks without mods?
    2. Will they accept stock valve sizes, i.e. 1.92 1.55?
    3. If they are taking backorders, am I to assume they are actually in production, or is this more smoke?
I suppose I can continue waiting if I have to, as the rest of the car isn't finished, but a fully assembled, twin turbo,
fuel injected beast in the corner of the garage is some good motivation!

I called and talked to them yesterday and they are still planning to do the 350 heads but they are NOT taking deposits on heads. They do plan to make the single plane intakes soon though.

Thatd be cool if they made those heads, I have to disagree with the 350's being gone by then. Theres still plenty of Nailheads out there, i'm sure there will be some 350 buicks left out there by 2018. Now, all T/A has to do now is make Aluminum heads for the Nailhead. THAT WOULD BE SICK.

I start building my 71 GS 350 next year, hopefully theres is a good flowing head available when I need to decide which way to go with the drivetrain. As Im living in europe, the BBB engines are really rare. To find a good useable block is even harder, so I would be happy to start with my 350 block which is waiting under my workbench.

Just to clear this up a little TRS did not put up the money, TA Performance did. TRS has purchased the majority of the heads sold. Problem was, first pattern maker getting the patterns finished, had to pull the job, sent over to a second pattern maker, job got finished. Next problem was getting our then machinist to get the fixtures and program developed. This job just did not go smooth. People can make or break projects, I just didn't give up and finally got it done.
We have been talking about the 350 cylinder head and single plane intake lately. Even had a meeting with our pattern maker just a short time ago. I feel the 350 single plane intake would be better to do first, Sherri my wife feels the cylinder head should come first. I feel the manifold would be more affordable for most and would help generate funds. It would really be nice if folks were willing to put up a deposit to show interest in these projects. This would make it much easier to push them through. Times are not like they were and this is a big investment. It would be nice to get a count of interest.

Just found a full set of drawings for the letter D Nailhead Head a couple of months ago. This was a rare head that Buick made only a few sets of. You never know what could happen.
