On behalf of Dave Mongeon, Derek Graham, and Mike Tomaszewski, we proudly present the 25th anniversary reunion of the Super 16 class at the 34th annual Buick GS Nationals (dates to be announced) at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The 3 persons listed above created this class to showcase the fastest Buicks in the world in one place. Big blocks, turbos, superchargers, naturally aspirated. If it is Buick bodied and Buick powered it is good to go. Many people have come and gone both as enthusiast or driver/owner or spectator, but the memories will last forever. Before its too late and for a one time only spectacle to pay homage to many of those who have carried the Buick torch of performance, both big block and small block, we look to bring a reunion of the cars and the people together for one final time. A true tribute to Buick performance to not only the drivers, owners, mechanics and enthusiasts but to the cars as well.

We are looking to get as many of the original cars in attendance, whether to race or show or both. We would love to see everyone race their car but realize time and budgetary constraints may be an issue. If you can bring the car to the event with cobwebs from sitting in the barn for 10 years, no problem, people will love to see it, period.

We are looking to have this special show on Friday from 830am to 1030 am for car show and photo ops. We are hoping to line the cars up on the track on both sides similar to how the NHRA hot rod reunions are planned out accordingly. Then we will take each car who wishes to race and have 2 qualifying runs and then run eliminations that afternoon as well.

Monies will be collected to sponsor this class for prize money, as well as possible participant t shirts or hats. That will be decided down the road as we get closer to the event. We appreciate any and all sponsorship of the class as it will go directly to the participants. More details will be forthcoming as well.

Here in no particular order is the list of cars we want to see attend this event. This list will be updated as well and I do know some of the cars on here are not around or with new owners. I am hoping someone can give myself or the other individuals involved contact information to get these owners to bring their cars to this event. Some cars also have never been to BG but when you think of Buick performance history, you have to include these cars because they are the backbone of Buick performance.

Here they are in no particular order:

Richard Manns and Mike Nussels old cars are now owned by John Gentner. Little Joe is now owned by Larry Albrecht (ACLarry).

  12. Michael Evans

    Michael Evans a new project

I thought it was to be rebuilt.

The front end and frame were bent after it hit the wall in Bowling Green.

Michael, Tweety crashed hard into the wall at Norwalk Ohio, it was partially rebuilt, and never finished. Sonny Seal is the owner of Tweety, he had made many mods to the frame and chassis, one fast 350 in the day!

would like to see Joe Chuba and Ron Regelski (silver car, Red Line racing)

Alan, I've told you before and I'm telling you again....John Jr's white GSX clone was not a stick car, John Sr's blue '73 was a stick car. Also, the white car was a fringe Super-16 car at best. The boy is like a little brother to me, but he was 12 years old the first time I raced in Super-16 and if he's going to be included, it's with the Skyhawk, not the white car. Don't make me come out there.

Tweety was never a Q16 car,but was one fast 350,going a best of 11.05. Unfortunately was never rebuilt,Sonny got part way there with a tube chassis but didn't finish it.

It is for sale in its Uncompleted state if anyone is interested.

I guess I have not been around long enough to qualify for this.I beat most of the cars that qualify for this, but I have only been racing a couple years. It's ironic this year at the Nationals,we qualified for the quick 16 and got asked to race in the quick 8.we also won the first round in the quick 8.BrunoD.

Now that I think of it, I have had 2 different cars in the Super 16 over my 28 years of attending the nationals. I think I have worn out at-least 5 or 6 Super 16 shirts that I have received.

Hell............I even have one of these:

John and Bruno you are both going to be on the list. Getting updated as we speak. Be patient, this is taking more time than we expected.

---------- Post added at 05:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:48 AM ----------

Bruno that was me who introduced myself and thanked you for doing the Quick 8. You did a hell of a driving job for the win. A little skating action eh:TU:

---------- Post added at 05:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:49 AM ----------

Fact of the matter is, any car that has qualified for Super 16 in the last 25 years is invited. But sadly even the footage i have and magazine coverage (going by gsxtras) i still will miss cars. So please when we come out shortly with an updated list , continue to chime in.

We will also post a daily update as to who is confirming they will attend the event.
