For what it's worth, I'll second this. I was there back in those days and we didn't trust the factory gauges. Aftermarkets were considered more accurate and since you needed to put them in anyway there was no need to be redundant. My 72GS Stage1 has a Sun Tach strapped to the steering column and no tach in the dash. Just like I would have expected to see back then.

What surprises me is how many were ordered without posi. There are a lot of peg leg GS's out there and it's tough to understand why it wasn't worth the $126 (I'm making that up, don't know what it was.).

Sorry to interrupt the thread, and probably against the rules. Beautiful car for sale here. Hope you get every penny. At least it's a bump ttt.

Last post on this car by me...if anyone is interested in making an offer on this car, give me a call at 614-893-3857. Closest offer to $30,000 takes it. If it isn't worth that, then I give up. Please show me all the other numbers-matching Stage 1's for sale in that price range that are actually pretty nice cars as well.

For what it's worth, if your car is a legit Stage 1 and is nice as you say it is, I'd agree to your asking price if I could afford to do so. One thing I worry about your car is the vinyl top. A lot the vinyl top cars are more prone to rust issues. The second thing is the rear view mirror being painted black. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the rear view mirror be chrome. The only exception would be the sport mirrors which were painted the same color as the car, but I'm not sure if they were available on the '70 model. (I know they were for the '72 models.) Still, you have a great car. :TU:

Mike, the market sucks right now don't take it personal or anything. I'd like to sell a couple of my GSs but am reluctant to even try after seeing yours not moving fast at this price. The stock market is a better place for money now. My favorite example is Bank of America, paying over 5% dividend with a lot of upside. There are plenty of other stocks that will appreciate faster than these old cars, with no insurance or storage cost.

But again, looks like a great car for the right person. Hope it goes soon.

Personally, I think that car is the most awesome color scheme available. And...add the Stage 1 to it,that makes it one of the nicest made in my eyes. If I were to have ordered one new, thats almost exactly what I would have ordered. The only exception would be a 4 speed.I think the market went soft and its tough to sell things right now. I think your price is nowhere near out of line and that car is worth every cent, You know in a year, there will be alot of guys saying they wished they would have jumped on it.If I were better off financially,it would be in Pa right now!Too bad I need to replace my wifes Jeep next summer or I'd talk her into this car,.but I think it would suck as a daily driver.I think your price is more than fair in my opinion..Nice car BTW.

Well, not that it matters if you don't have the money anyway, but for what it is worth...and for the benefit of all those hundreds of seriously interested parties out there and all of you big time Buick buyers, THERE IS ZERO RUST UNDER THE TOP OF MY CAR. Now, I am going back to... (that's all there is to do since the phone hasn't rang about the Buick in about 9 months now.

Oh, and by the way, I know the mirror isn't supposed to be black, do you really think I wouldn't rather it wasn't? Please, I am the last person on the face of this earth that would do something that disgraceful.

    Strumgewehr,

I love that car...in case ya'll can't tell I have a weakness for Platinum Mist. My first real GS was a 4speed Stage I 70 car and I miss the heck out of it. I might be interested in your car...are you looking for a 72 vert by chance? Can you shoot me some pics?

4speed, what about the wheel molding that looks to be hanging off. Core support area under battery...what shape is it in? Frame at the tranny crossmember? Does it have the original carb, distributor? Doors rust free? What about the cowl area and the trunk...sorry to ask so many questions, but there are no pics of any of those areas. Is this the same car that was on ebay last year?

So which car are you interested in, mine or his? It was a for sale thread for my car, but now I guess there is another car for sale here too. Looks like a very nice '72 for very cheap. If it is mine you are interested in, call me and I will answer any questions you have. The moldings were not all back on the car yet in those pictures, the wheelwell moldings only had a few screws in them, I also have new rocker moldings that aren't on yet in the pics. The core support and fenders are new, the trunk and cowl are perfect and so is the frame. The doors look real nice. Everything matches but the carb and distributor, but I have a correct dated distributor for it that will go with the car.

I'm interested in whichever car I find that matches its owners claims and isn't overpriced w/ regards to what the car can deliver. Right now there a bunch of cars that aren't selling

So are the 2 pics the most current or not? Why not post the most current pics and include some engine, interior, trunk, etc shots. Honestly, from the 2 pictures it raises more questions than delivers answers.

Make no mistake, I am looking for another 70 Stage I Platinum Mist car...but just like the last vert I bought, it needs to be right from the start (car condition, price, originality, options, etc.). Even that car has had some hidden "gotchas"...still it was better than most that I looked at, and I passed on plenty before I decided on it.

I will take a bunch of photos in the upcoming week, as soon as they are done, I will post some and a link to the others. Tose two photos were taken just a month or two ago. The car was pulled in the garage after that and I have not had it out since.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Send me some pics to the email address above, Chris!! A four speed Stage 1 is what he really wants, but they are definitely harder to find. Does anyone know the stats on all 70 Stage 1's, how many were 4 speeds vs. automatics? Thanks!

Sounds good, Mike. Please include as much history on the car and any previous work done to it, undercarriage pics, and a firm price so I can pass it all along. Will you allow a third party inspection before an offer/terms are met, or after? Thanks.
