I have decided that I will be selling the 1970 Stage 1 that I recently purchased. I had kicked around the idea of it, and had a "For Sale" sign in it at the BPG Nationals, but have decided I just have way too many cars to keep it.

I purchased it from the owner of the last 30 years or so, it is a numbers-matching engine and transmission. I refuse to own anything that isn't, so it was checked thoroughly. The rear is a real "ON" 3.64 Posi that I just purchased from John Chamberlain at a premium, but it was well worth it. It is concours restored, drum-to-drum and all new. I also have brand-new coil springs and shocks to install. The previous owner was an older gentleman who swapped the original rear for a 2.73 Posi years ago so the car would be more drivable on a day to day basis. Other than that, it is pretty much all original. It is Silver Mist with a black vinyl top and original black interior. It is a bench seat, column shift car. The only options are Power Disc Brakes and an underdash 8-track player from the factory. It was built on 12/03/1969 at Flint, Mi. I have a partial build sheet which was found above the gas tank. The car was re-painted many years ago in the original color, the only re-paint, it was placed into storage then where it remained for 10-12 years. A new vinyl top was installed at that time also, and looks factory. The paint is nice, not perfect but decent. The interior is all original and in good shape. No tears in the seats or cracks in the dash. It has the "pointed lens" gauges with factory tachometer in the dash. Bumpers were rechromed years back at the time of the re-paint. I installed a new reproduction rear bumper emblem.

This is a nice driver and I am willing to sell with or without the brand-new 15X7 satin-center wheels, new Radial T/A's (275-60-15 and 245-60-15) and new correct center caps from Mitch Romanowski. It currently has 15 X 7 wheels on it, with incorrect ('71-'72) center caps and new white-lettered radials. The original wheels are in nice shape, I just wanted perfect new ones. I have not mounted the new wheels/tires on the car yet.

The body is good, it runs very well, it needs a lot of detailing in the trunk, under the hood and otherwise, but it is a nice driver as it sits. Original air cleaner, valve covers, etc. Engine and transmission were overhauled (he did NOT mill the deck surfaces, thank goodness). The emblems are all brand-new correct reproductions...he never re-installed the originals after having it painted, I also just installed new wheel-opening moldings as well. The rocker moldings are a mint set of originals purchased from John Chamberlain as well, and will go with the car.

I am asking $39,000 or best offer for it. I must sell the car, please feel free to call me anytime with your thoughts or offers. I only have a couple pics that aren't too great that I took the other day, but will be happy to e-mail them to anyone who is serious about it.

    Thanks,

Is anyone interested in a numbers-matching '70 Stage 1 that's in pretty nice shape? If anyone wants to make an offer, let me know. I thought I would at least get some response...but no offers yet.

I tried twice Sunday to reach you by phone, and left two messages regarding scheduling a time to inspect the car. I will not make an offer on a car without a thorough inspection. I am indeed interested.

    Jim,
I will call you today, I work all weekend so I didn't get home until late last night. I did, indeed, get your message. I would be happy to show it to you anytime, my shop is in Groveport, just a few minutes from you.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Did you bring this car to BPG on the Friday late afternoon on a flatbed?

Is this the car that was for sale by a father and son within the last year? I saw the car it needed a few iteams put back on the car since the repaint years ago. Was for sale in the auto trader and ebay but never met the reserve? If it is does it still have the 71 and up pistons in it . I know those were changed along with the rearend, chris

    Chris,
I really don't have any idea. I bought it from an older guy, but no son was involved and he had owned the car for about 30 years. I never saw it advertised, but it's possible I suppose.

Still hardly any response, the price is now BEST OFFER!

Is there anyone out there interested in a numbers-matching, nice 1970 Stage1 that is Silver with a black top and interior, probably the best color combo available???

Still no offers...man, I thought nice '70 Stage 1 cars were what everyone was looking for? I can't even get an offer on mine. My wife was right, I must be an idiot.

Does the car have correct distributor, carb, heads, and intake? Have you gotten the sloan/roberts docs (I can't remember which would be correct for a 12/03/69 build date)? Are the original wheels the WG (or whatever the early prefix is)?

Original everything except for the carb and distributor. I did purchase a new, correct, restamped distributor for it though, so that goes with it. As for the wheels, I am not sure about the wheels that are on it, I have not broken them down, is there a visible code on the outer rim anywhere?

I have not gotten the docs for it, but that is in the works, it is registered with Marco on the registry, although I don't know if he's added it yet. If Sloan docs help...I will have them as soon as possible. I tried to get in touch with someone there last week, left a message on a voice mail, and no one ever even returned my call.

Hmm..just thot I'd comment here on that VOLO Stage 1 car. . . I review the pix and am wondering WHY, anyone would order a STAGE 1 car WITHOUT a dash tachometer? :Do No: I know, I know its NOT written in stone that you HAD TO order one, but with all the other options that car has I just thot its kinda strange. Thats all. Anyone else really care? :beers2: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Thanks Mike. Yes it is registered, and I appreciate your support.

It was good to meet you in Columbus :beer

Wayne Roberts would have your car, as the VINs he documents start with serial number 193553. His number is 248-879-2113, or you can try sending him a PM/email from this board. His user name is GSX455.

    Thanks again :TU:

It is not hard to see why guys did not order tach and guages and everything else in Perfomance cars back in the day.
It was cool to have a Sun tach on the column and aftermarket guages under the dash as was a chrome open air cleaner on engine plus chrome mags.
All this was hip and cool back than .....undersirable today.
