For me, that's the Red Hot Chili Peppers. All their songs are all alike!

"He Ain't Heavy he's my Brother"
    "Disco Duck"
"Makin' It"-David Naughton (used to sing and dance in Dr.Pepper commercials)

So maybe this is NOT an Ohio thing. My Classic Rock station plays the same 40-50 year old songs constantly. I love Bod Segar but I don't have to hear "Turn the page" twice a day. The list goes on of songs on heavy play, I feel like I'm in stuck in 1981. Don't get me wrong I like classic rock I'm 57 but play a variety and pitch in some new stuff. Akron 97.5 WONE is all I used to get in the garage. I have always been a News junkie and listen to NPR 95% of the time but with the Rona I need a break.

It’s one thing when an ok, good or even great song gets overplayed. It’s another when a song sucks. Hence my choice.

    How about these lyrics

Because I'm bad, I'm bad, come on (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, come on, you know (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, come on, you know (bad, bad, really, really bad)
And the whole world has to
    Answer right now
Just to tell you once again
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, come on (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it, you know it (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know, you know, you know, come on (bad, bad, really, really bad)
And the whole world has to
    Answer right now
Just to tell you once again
You know I'm, woo, I'm bad, you know it (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, baby (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know, you know, you know it, come on (bad, bad, really, really bad)
And the whole world has to
    Answer right now
Just to tell you once again
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, woo (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it (bad, bad, really, really bad)
And the whole world has to
    Answer right now
Just to tell you once again
    Who's bad?

OK, I'm REALLY gonna hit a nerve, with a funny story to go with it. (I can't believe nobody hit on the universal song to despise...)
    "WE ARE THE WORLD"
Who didn't get nauseated hearing it every hour, and on every station? I think they even tried getting every station to play it at the same time, but not sure.
Now for the funny story. You know how it was driven down your throat back in spring of 1985 ? In May of 1985 got transferred to the USS Midway CV 41, homeported in Yokosuka Japan. That ship spent so much time underway...
Well for those that have been in military service, you are familiar with the USO shows. This show (QUEENS, a group of recent Miss America finalists and a lead singer)) came to the Midway, at sea.
    https://www.navysite.de/cruisebooks/cv41-86/053.htm , https://www.navysite.de/cruisebooks/cv41-86/054.htm
Well, one of the Queens a little chipper blonde started to intro a song, " Come on guys I know you know this one!!! " and then I heard those first few notes. [Internal groan] Unfortunately for little Miss Chipper, She just came to a ship that (A) is homeported away from the United States, (B) doesn't tend to get the current music trends in the US, (C) has a whole bunch of people that have NOT been exposed to US trending music [Sailors on Midway are assigned there for tour of duty of two or three years, and some stay even longer.] SOOO>>> Almost nobody knew the song; She almost had a nervous breakdown, all crying, and bawling. She was taken off stage, off the hanger bay. Yes, I know that this is cruel, but I must say that I got a perverse sense of pleasure from that.

If I hear Don Mclean's American Pie or Queen's bohemian rhapsody I'm changing the channel before it gets 6 words in.

    So tired of those songs.

Don't think I realized how burned out folks are getting. Guess there's been a lack of new "classic" rock? :D

I can't confine myself to just five songs. I've got more than five artists on my "mute/ change/ stick skewers in my ears" list.
    But, since you asked:
Me & Bobby McGee- Janis Joplin
    Stairway to Heaven.
Live and Let Die. Guns and Roses
    Helter Skelter Motely Crue.
Knocking on heaven's Doah Guns and Roses

FWIW, this song is from 1967.

I don't know what my list would be, but likely all Country music.
