There are a lot of great movies but my two all time favorites would be "Lonesome Dove" and "It's a wonderful life" great stories and acting and I can always enjoy seeing them again.
Well, the Outlaw Josey Wales would kick Dirty Harry's butt, and all his friends too! Favorite lines: "don't piss down my back and tell me it's rainin'" "you gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie?" "Works great for just about everything, does it? How's it work for stains?" one of those might have been from the not-so-good sequel. Other great movies: It's a wonderful life leap of faith (Steve Martin) Total Recall (best plot for an Arnold movie) The Sting Thunderbolt & Lightfoot (they trash a Riv though) The Hustler cool hand luke Shindler's List Patton Two Lane Blacktop was Horrible! IMHO
In no particular order: GoodFellas Thunderbolt and Lightfoot Taxi Driver The Shining Casino The French Connection (the first) My favourite tv series: Kojak
Phil, You may have started to take this thread a new direction with you favorite TV series. Kojak eh? Was that cause he drove a Buick?. Best TV series EVER............St. Elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In no particular order American Graffiti Blues Brothers Caddy Shack Hollywood Knights (w/ Tony Danza) Cannonball Run Gumball Ralley Fast Times At Ridgemont High (My favorite line " Dude that was my sckull") Animal House Blazing Saddles The new version of Gone In 60 sec. Ground Hog Day The Jerk (and most other Steve Martin movies) K-9 Turner and Hooch and a bunch of others I can't think of right now Steve aka Joker1570
It's so hard to list only a few of the "best" when there's so many "bests" from different catagories... But the ones that immediately come to mind when you say "best" are: The Green Mile Schindlers List The Lord of the Rings (the 3rd installment is going to be AWESOME!) Saving Private Ryan
For me definatley Schindler's List. Hey Rick, it seems our tastes in movies are very similar, I wont bother naming the others, they are already on your list as well..:Brow: :beer
some of my favorites (yeah, all fairly recent, so sue me for not being alive when most of the movies you guys are naming were made:laugh: ) - requiem for a dream memento donnie darko fight club the matrix snatch / lock stock and two smoking barrels i'm sure i'm forgetting some other really good ones..
Last year of college my one roommate bought the DVD of Snatch. We must have watched that movie at least once a month. "I didn't see it there. It's a four-ton truck, Tyrone. It's not a Sosa packet of f***ing peanuts, is it? It was at a funny angle. It's behind you, Tyrone. Whenever you reverse things come from behind you" "What is that? That is a dog, Sol" That movie has one of the all time greatest # of priceless quotes.
The Buicks were one of the reasons why I liked the program, Kojak was Driving a brown 1974 (the one with the 455 badges) but he was also driving a 1975 lighter colored car. There was another blue 1974 Century police car with full wheelcovers that replaced the Ford (if I remember well) from the early programs. Even when he was out of New York, Kojak was often driving Buicks, I remember two different episodes where he was driving 1972 or 1973 Electras.
Animal House Caddyshack Kelly's Heroes (War flick, Bank heist, Don Sutherland, hippies, Clint...) Blues Brothers Fast Times @ Ridgmont High (people on quaaludes shouldn't drive) Repo Man Can you tell I had stolen cable TV in 1982?
Now you're talking my language with JOSEY WALES---I could watch that movie over and over!!!! Other great lines- "Not a hard man to track---leaves dead men wherever he goes" "we got us the Josey Wales-mean as a rattlesnake and twice as fast"---"you pull his teeth and he's harmless as a heelhound" I love the look on that dude's face in this scene---the "look" of every character in this movie is PERFECT. "Man's got to make a livin' somehow(bounty hunter).....Dyin' ain't much of a livin(Wales)" ".......seems like the white man's been sneakin' up on us ever since" (Chief Dan George) My top pick also.
