certainly makes the measure twice, then measure again, and just to be safe measure twice again before putting stuff together a good rule to live by!

If your engine was a 340 it would make sense if they just wrote "340" on the tag as I'm sure 90% of the world thinks MOPAR when they hear 340.

Not if the shop replaced it with a nice aftermarket crank, that are available for a sb mopar 360.The one Scott got is a .030" under crank,if they replaced it with a new one,the guy can run standard bearing now.(actually 2 years ago)

Its kinda funny , going into the shop saying" hey found that dodge crank you lost 2 years ago now go fling my Buick crank" lol. Well I thought it was funny at least.

LOL, almost what I did. They were apologetic and actually refunded me for the machine work. If they find the crank they will call me. In the mean time I'm gonna have to order one from TA.

A refund for the machine work won't cover the cost of buying a crank outright,TA might not even have a crank to sell you. The machine shop should trade the mopar crank for a Buick crank.

Someone from the board may have a crank they might be able to sell to you,I would check that route first if the machine shop doesn't take care of you.GL

I have a resurfaced crank with bearings but shipping would be pretty high due to weight.

Thanks for the offer Andy!! Ya i'm sure shipping would be massive. I'll just have to keep an eye out for one here closer to San Diego. Still waiting before contacting TA and seeing if they have one on hand. So now it's focus on painting the block and saving lol.

Hey Derek, I was looking for the reconditioned rods on TA's website but only thing I can find are $455 for a set...a little steep for reconditioned rods in my mind. If you are still thinking of doin' a run of those H-Beam rods in the future I may hold out since I am at a stand still without a crank .

    Hey guys,

Well no luck with TA on a reconditioned 350 crank. They pointed me to Desert Valley Auto Parts and I am waiting a replay if they can pull one or have one. Plenty of parts cars in their inventory. I keep an eye out on craigslist for any local postings. One came up but was sold by the time I called the guy :ball: Anyways I'm still excited for this project to get moving.

Put a Buick 350 wanted add in your area craigslist. I did that and I get a hit every 6 months with low cost 350 engines for my hoarding collection. I have nice cranks here but too much $ for shipping.

    Smar thanks for the info!!!!!!

Still trying to find a crank, the two that I found were complete engines (one for $150 & $280) but both were seized and I don't want to waste time and money. As of right now I have a complete 455 that I bought a few years ago that I was gonna save for a future project but may go ahead and build (it was built to be around 500hp 550tq, but it was built about 10 years ago by previous owner lol) . I'd like to keep the stock engine and smaller displacement (fuel economy) but I need to get this car on the road. So if nothing pops up in around a week or two I'll be switching gears to the big block.

FFG,I used last year's TA catalog for the rod pricing because I don't think the new one was out yet,NOT from the '80's(jerk!)LOL

Scott,I have a set of '77 sbb 350 cap screw rods, and a crank if you're interested here in Michigan. Shoot me a PM maybe we can work something out if you can't find anything locally?

Well,I call them how I see them smar and you're right I shouldn't of put the LOL on the end. You were SLAMMING me for copy and pasting catalog prices, what kind of person does that?

A decent person would just point out that those prices were not accurate, and correct them. I'm sorry you don't like Buick engines and you think you need to post on v8buick.com to let everyone know you don't like Buick engines.(sad)

Even though I wrote my opinion that an inline 6 Ford was a "boat anchor" I have never perssonally attacked you. Why do you think it is ok for you to do that to me and not give you the name you deserve from what you wrote?

You must like to aurgue, who is the next person on your list that you're going to attack for using an old catalog,or for someone saying that cam bearings can be changed with the engine still in the car.(oh yeah,I read all of those posts before you deleted them) I tried playing nice with you,I guess you don't know when to stop. You seem to have some good knowledge and good info, but I guess you can't handle someone giving a different option than yours.(thats too bad)

I will apoligize to you if you admit you crossed the line. You seem like you might be a good guy that just needs to keep his ego in check. This thread is an example of that, you didn't like the option I gave to someone in a different thread, and you seen I posted here and you personally attacked me for copy and pasting old catalog prices.(WTF dude?)

I apologize to you Scott for posting this carp on your thread, but I did NOT start it,and Mr.smar has had problems with other members in the past and needs to learn to be more dipolmatic!(and not stalk a person with a different opinion or option than his to another thread!)

hey, atleast you guys got paper copies, mine seemed to walk off and disapear! lol

..sometimes I think i'm on Yellow bullet with all the personal attacks that go on here anymore..
gives me less reason to visit this site and more reason to post on another BPG

Well this thread took an odd turn lol. Smar thanks for the input and the options I do appreciate it. Derek thanks for the offer but I feel shipping would be a hassle for you and cost me more than I'm looking to spend. As for the other stuff going on in this thread, I'm not getting involved. I started the thread for others to follow my build and offer input. Unfortunately it's looking like I'm gonna have to shelf the 350 and build my 455. Not a big issue as I have 90% of the stuff needed to do the swap and it's a complete motor.

I'd appreciate if no more responses were made in this thread that are directed towards other members other than myself and are related towards the original post.

    Thanks guys,

Scott, packaging and shipping the parts won't be that big of a deal. The crank will need to be UPS or Fedx and the rods can be shipped USPS in I think would fit in a $12.50 box,not sure how much the crank would be to ship, but I would guess around $70? Pricing of the parts would depend how you want them, can have all the machining done here or you can have them as is. We can discuss the pricing in a PM if you're interested,I'll give you a good deal on the parts and the machining.

If you are set on the 455,I can help with a nice set of aftermarket Pontiac H-beams rods machined to fit a Buick 455 as well that might fit in the USPS $12.50 shipping box.My friend's machine shop has them in stock, they just need the Buick machining done to them.
