Welcome to the official 63 Wildcat 4 speed rebuild thread! Ny friend Eric Stoldt is the Wildcat's new owner. As some of you know, Eric bought this car from Kokomo Indiana- Wildcat central! We picked it up Sunday. After a whirlwind tour of Indiana, the Gilmore museum, and the Sloan, we made it back at 1:30am last night. Shes crusty and filthy. Sitting outside for years neglected. The car literally has barnacles on it. The goal- breath sone life in it and get the csr running and driving. Go through all the mechanicals and use it as a beater! Get it to the point where you wouldn't think twice to drive it out of state. Think Beater 2.0. I'm gonna try to get something done on it every day. Here's what we're working with-
Eric fired up the steam Jenny tonight after work and cleaned the hell out of it! It's actually white again! He just sent me these pics. Dammit, that must of been so satisfying.... Car is scheduled to be delivered to Jason's home for wayward Buicks tomorrow night along with my sunoco gas pump..
That thing looks totally bitchin' man. Drop it 2" and put some dog dish caps on it and roll! Does it have a name yet? If not I vote for "Big booty Judy"
Any idea how many of these were made with a 4-speed? Nice to see this one being brought back to life. I'm looking forward to the updates.
We went to the Sloan and got the DCR's for 63. We just need to figure out the rpo for the 4 speed. There were rumors thry made 30 of thrm but wild Bill seems to believe there were a few hundred
About 25 years ago I picked up the motor/trans, shifter and console from one. Only have the engine, and maybe the bell housing and flywheel left, Shifter and console went to a board member in NYC.
30 is the number I see around the internet. 63, 64, 65 were the only years 4 speeds were available by special order in the Wildcat. Very rare cars.
Yes low 16s. Jason I'll look for pictures I have of the Nailhead Race class, as that is what your staging lane pictures are from.
Such a cool car. When I saw this listed for sale I lusted after it but knew better than to test the wife's patience a 3rd time in 1 month.
Very cool car! Every kid had a mustang, Camaro, some with a few bucks had a GS or maybe a corvette. That’s a man’s car! You probably needed to sell a lot of aluminum siding to get into this. Interested to see some more pictures of shifter, looks reversed.
Goals for this weekend- Get the carb and fuel pump removed so they can be sent out.. Wheels and tires off to get new rubber installed Thorough evaluation of the brakes and car in general and get a parts list together Break out the shop vac and clean up the interior a little
