OK, well I thought they were different lengths :Do No: Any way you get the idea. unfortunally I communicate in a green fog
On a different note, Penn.DOT screwed up my RR plate. They transfered it to the 70 skylark leaving the "tow witch "with no plate. :Dou: So I had the Girl at AAA apply for a antique plate for me.It should take 3 to 6 weeks if it is excepted. The bright side for me is it doesn't need inspected anymore.

 so anyway, check out this find.. a 68 (or 69?) Sportwagon 400 for $770. it's not currently running, and there is some rotting around the glass. does it sound like it could be a good deal?

WOW, It is pretty cool, but $700 does seem to be a bit steep for a car that doesn't run and the rust condition. I wouldn't consider buying it unless it were in the $300 - $400 range. Just way too much work. Do you know why the car does not run........motor blown?? Eggers would be able to tell you the year..........he's a wagonhead!

Im no EggMan....but Im guilty to the other charge

    thats a '69

'69 Grille and surround - '68 no center bar and different grille
'69 headlight bezels - 68 had square corners inbetween adjacent bulbs
'69 Full side chrome moulding - 68 only followed the body sweep / no upper moulding
69 rear bumper had the step for the dual-action tailgate - 68 only went down / no step
    69 front seats had headrests - 68 didn't

    -----------------------

Hows the interior ?? I know people looking for the rear side panels in the cargo area and also the "B" pillar panels between the front and rear doors

IMHO - the rust makes it too far gone to save.....but lots of good parts there for $300. The grille alone with a good chrome bar can fetch that (although with the bumper tweaked up in the center, Id be surprised if the plastic grille behind it isnt whacked)

thanks for all the advice! yeah i guess it's not worth it, bc the grill is cracked right in the top center, the top rust looks pretty severe, and you can't just find patch panels for these wagons i'm assuming. :(

when i went to the place last, the old man working there misheard me and said he didn't want to sell any parts yet. but i would be happy to help the wagon folks out and i can have him call me if and when he does. the interior looked pretty good from what i could see, but one of the windows is cracked [lowered] a tiny bit and with all the moisture we have here the panels could be badly warped. i will try to get pics of the inside next time..

damn! and here i thought was a sweet wagon.. well, that needed some work. but it has no AC which i am always looking for. hey Alan, were many (if any) sportwagons equipped with 4-speeds?

    thanks again

buickdreamin I need a new old car ...

    Headrests were available in 68.

    Hey Alan,

Head rests were available in 68 as an option. My Dad's 68 SportWagon has them.

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

No 68/69 Sporty's had 4-speeds....400 Sporty's got the TH400 and I believe the 350's got the 350. Not sure if powerglides were base or not or if Special Deluxes got the L6-250 and a glide......maybe even a 3 on the tree ?? I'll check my 69 books tonight.

Pete - Yes, they were an option and I Imagine VERY rare too. In 69 ALL cars got headrests standard as part of the new GM safety and security upgrade. Column mounted key with shift-lock was also a major change.

Would love to see some pics of your Sporty !! is it a 350 or 400 ??

I spotted the trishield grill emblem right away.Is it unique to the sport wagon?
I bought a whole car for one once.It seamed worth it to me.And I owned 2 wagons at once. :)
