    I think it's funny people are still voting on which should come first the alum heads or intake... The intake is available and the heads are part way done... Time to close the voting lol!!

    Maybe they will have different "Stages" of port sizing available. Street port, race port, etc.
    No way you can duplicate the exact same port results like a computer can.

    Could you imagine getting a call from the guy doing the porting on your new heads saying, "Well...I now know how far NOT to go...":Dou:

    Any further up dates on these new heads?

    Well on that note Chris has the right equipment to measure the thickness of the material...

    On a good note I was talking to Scotty Brown who does our custom camshafts and he says he is going to offer CNC head porting program for the BUick 350 alum heads as soon as he gets a set in his hands.

    No updates on the heads but I should call TA and see how they are coming, glad I have my money down so I get the first set when they are available.

    Was talking with Mike Jr and Sr recently and it should not be much longer now till we have heads in hand.... Just some finish machine work to be done.

    I posted some before... I have some cool pics of the development phase as well, super cool seeing how they designed them. I spoke to the head designer and he sure is a pro at what he does. These are the pics I posted before:

    Looks like they sunk the chamber deeper, they'll be able to use shorter cheaper more plentiful sbc valves(although the 8mm LS style valves would be even cooler!!) that way if they did? If they combine that with a deeper spring pocket they can use a 1.800" install height instead of the crappy factory installed height of 1.720" for even higher lifts while being able to use a stock valve cover and standard geometry! :Brow:

    sinking the chamber loses combustion efficiency (energy) as well as sacrifices Buick's gift to flow velocity and recovery pressure potential by unnecessarily bending the port, smashing the short turn down, ruining the line of sight.

    Going taller can use a more common valve, if desired by the business.
    One aftermarket head released in the last couple years for a niche brand made the head really tall and still able to use common intake manifolds.
    Think of the many benefits there.

    Maybe that's what they learned with these heads and that's why we wait til next December?

    If in it was me though, I would of had heads 3d printed to make sure they were how I wanted them first, then released the design for casting. They could of even left enough material in the ports for porting in the 3d heads and would of been able to have flow numbers even before they were casted! If they did them this way they would of been out a year ago!

    Hell, they could of even 3d printed the forms and sand casted them fast, and had proto types in a matter of weeks ready to be machined this way.

    I suppose they'd have to build a DIY 3d printer from some scrap copy machine stepper motors and some scrap bed frames or buy a small one?
    I think they make them for under $1000 now...:rolleyes:
    (Just kidding with you, couldn't resist that!)
    CFD and the well-above-maintream super computer is quicker when you are trying to do something more serious than sim a product like this if you are already geared up for that type of prototype work.
    Even the well known head creators use silicone molds and plaster castings for flow bench, etc.
    Really a head like this can be somewhat copied externally and reverse engineered inwards, sort of, bearing in mind what attributes you want to keep.

    I have full faith in TA coming up with the best head possible it will turn out great and they will have good reasoning behind the design. They have a track record of proven products and these heads will be worth the wait. It will be interesting because at the same time Scotty Brown will be developing his CNC head program and my heads will be done by Chris so it will be neat to see how they turn out. Chris's porting has been worked into some of the TA BBB heads BTW.

    Any chance of an intake for the 300 at all? It's a great engine, can be built as a 350, and can use the Rover heads but intakes are not easy to find. Makes a very good Rover upgrade. I realize the numbers may not support it which is why intakes are so scarce now. But a short single plane with injector bosses would be way cool.

    Plus with spacers or have it cast a bit wider, machine more for the 300 and less for the 340 and it could be a 2 in one manifold made to fit both the sbb 300 and 340 engines!

    Make it so its a bolt together with the TA Rover heads sold as a kit maybe? Get some air in and out of those 2 engines to make them really run!
