A well built turbo 350 will hold up for years on a mild 455 but the huge torque will take its toll. A stock turbo 400 with a mild shift kit should hold up behind a stoutly built 455. I have done the swap myself and both trans. will bolt up but take different drive shaft lengths. It looks like there will be new aluminum heads out soon for the 350 so it would cheaper and less work to hop up the 350 and keep your trans. Just a thought!

Junk yard engines are a gamble. Without taking it to a shop and having everything sonic-tested, you're not going to know if anything is cracked or not. But at the very least see if the crank spins. That's usually a good sign. If you can remove the heads and look at the cylinders, that's even better. Also remove the crank caps and rod caps to check the crank for any scoring.

If you do want to swap to aa 455 then this advice:

I buy good running cars to do motor swaps with. Find a car with a Buick 455 and swap it in. You'll need a skylark biglock fan shroud or swap to electric, mounts can be had from ta for your application. I think you'll need BB frame pads for your year as well. Otherwise its a straightforward deal.
