Swapping an RB26 motor into a 240 is pretty simple and relatively cheap. If he says it runs 13's he's either lying about the motor that's in it, or trying to bait you into racing.

You should be able to get a 455 into your car and running for $1,000 or so I would think. Then you'd really have something that make ricer boy **** his pants. Just make sure your trans, u-joints, and rearend are up to the task also.

You got it. He's lying. One of those punks came to my house to check out a z28 I had for sale(thank god its gone). First off, I tell him over the phone I'm not interested in trades. So what does he do? Comes over with a "mary kay pink" ricer and starts talking about trades. I say I don't want any more cars. He says but it's 300 horsepower. I say I don't care. He keeps talking...blah blah blah. by the time he left, that ricer was pushing 900 horses with nitrous and turbosuperchargersand blah blah blah. Go ahead, race him, blow his doors off in front of your ex and then tell him she's got herpes.

okay back on to my car set up. i wanted to put headers on it. note, the word wanted. the previous owner said i might be getting in to a world of trouble though. broken bolts and such. so my idea goes back to the 455.. i would like to know what kind of damage(pocket book wise) im looking at if i did swap the engine. i mean it always costs more than you expect. and i cant do it by myself, its gonna have to be hired done. my dad is trying to talk me out of doing this to my car. he says its gonna cost ALOT more than 1000...but he also has zero experience with buicks and cars now days . he rathers to always hire it done. which aggravates me. cause i cant ask him any questions, because he doesnt know.:Dou:

I'm not an expert on the Nissan stuff, but I know a little about them.

There tend to be 3 engines found in the American 240sx.
Only one of them came with it stock: KA24DE
It's an inline 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder non turbo truck engine. (Never heard of a twin turbo one) They can be turbo charged, but you usually see the SR20DET dropped in instead.

SR20DET-Inline 4 cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged engine. It can handle up to 400hp on stock internals. (I have never, ever seen a twin turbo setup or heard of one for this engine.)

RB26DETT-Twin turbo, inline 6 cylinder 2.6 liter engine. This can be one very nasty engine when built up. If he has spent the money to put one of these in his car, he's only running 13's if he messed it up, is a crappy driver, or is lying.

Google the above engines in bold if you want to learn what they are capable of.

okay this is what he says,

"alls im sayin is its got twins on it on an sr20det engine and i done told you its runnin 13.7 in 1/4 now but its only pushin 7.5 psi on the turbos. about a month im gettin my new : fuel rail, injectors, pistons, rods, rings, and a three line intercooler, and an hks boost controler module so i can run up to 25psi and thats gonna be pushin my car in the 9's so good luck on that there race but anyway as of right now all im sayin is its between 300 and 500 hp and when that stuff gets on it it will be anywhere from 600 to 900hp"

:Do No: ...he knows what he is talking about guys. im spooked by the rice.

I dont let ricers get the privledge to race either my Buick or Yukon. I always joke with them that I'll put a trailer behind the Yukon so they have a chance.

Don't race him, challenge him to a burnout contest! :Brow:

Just remember at the end of the day he has a rusted frame ricer, you have the class of a Buick. Your Buick has more possabilities than the 240 will ever have. You have the better car, now get the better girl!!!!

If he's pushing 300 to 500 hp in a 240SX, he must be the shittiest driver in the world to only be running in the high 13's. My car put 375 hp to the pavement, I weigh about 1,000 lbs. more than him and my car run's in the high 11's.

He's so full of crap, he probably doesn't know where to put the bucket to catch it all. I'd ask him to pop the hood so you can see it. I'll bet his hood latch cable "just broke" or "melted shut" from all that turbo heat.

About the only thing I can think of that you'll need to drop a 455 into the car if it's a complete engine with an alternator and ps pump is mounts, radiator hoses, a new throttle cable setup, and misc. hose/clamps/belts. And of course one or two guys who are familiar with working with this stuff would be a big help.

But like a lot have said, don't get dragged into something just to show off to an ex-girlfriend with this turd. It's never worth it for that moment of glory.

Good points. The 455 swap is the easy way to get 450 hp for under $1000.

Just ask him to meet you at the track for a few passes. He won't show up most likely but in case he does, bring a hotter girl to make them both jealous.

Beat by a Buick will be in thier vocab soon...

I think you're obsessing WAY too much about building your car up to beat one jackass with a big mouth. Who cares what he has ( or claims to have). You're 15!!! Kick his ass on your playstation, and keep the points off the license you probably don't even have yet. Wanna learn more about cars? Take auto shop. Learn the basics, then tinker on your ride. I'm not trying to talk down to you, and I apologize if it comes off with an angry tone. I can agree with a lot of the advice given prior to me speaking, but one mention of twin turbos put you in some kind of tail spin to drop a butt load of money into your car. And for what? Tell hime you'll race him in 10 years, if he still has that aluminum can of a car, and if it hasn't been recycled by then.

yeah. its not this that had me wanting me to put more power in to my car though. i have been for a good while i have two previous threads talking about me wanting my car to have more power. but yeah you are right, this shouldnt do that. which i will admit it put me over the edge at first. but i come back to my senses. but im still looking for more power under the hood... in fact im not gonna race him anyway. im just gonna keep him wondering what my car will do. i like to be mysterious. its fun. and im just gonna wait until i see the car and then im gonna judge what it will do. because when he asked what i have and i said a Buick GS. he got kind of defensive :TU: ...and i told him i didnt know if i could race him without the bottle. and he got kinda scared over that. i dont have nos... but i didnt say i had it..right?

Running 455's sell here for $400 to $600 all the time. Motor mounts will set you back $50. A throttle cable setup from Lokar at Summit is $50 for the expensive one. Say $150 for new plugs/wires/rotor/cap/points/condenser/can of carb cleaner/2 cans of red engine paint. That still leaves you $250 for hoses/clamps/fluids/belts. It can be done.

You could actually get a twin turbo setup and really spank him...
If you're interested contact Mark (thread author). I bet he could help you. He didn't spend a whole crapload on his setup but it takes some fiddling...
