I'm thinking of buying&installing one of these units in my 66Lark. Is there anything I should also get while I'm in the pumpkin? I'll be inspecting the gears, etc, for wear. I'm just wondering what else I should do and/or look for.
Is it strictly a street car, or will you at some point be using sticky tires and running the car down the track? http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/power-trax.246984/#post-2020436 http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/powertrax-lock-right-for-8-2.231810/ http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/powertrax-no-slip.211532/ http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/eaton-posi-or-powertrax-no-slip-locker.179757/
Pretty much just street. I'd like to take it to the track some day when it's done just to see what it'll do. Might be some playing on the street too. . . ok, probably. But neither am I planning on building something like yours. LOL
YOU WILL NEED A .795 SHAFT CARRIER. if YOUR CARRIER HAS A .733 SHAFT...you can not INSTALL THE bop pOWER TRAX IN YOUR bUICK WITH OUT CHANGING your carrier to the larger pinion cross shaft that the spider gears ride on. Center gap on the unit is critical and MUST be with in the check block specs to work correctly. Other than that they work great even all out drag racing. INSTALL is the most critical in these. Install them wrong and they are junk.
