Your welcome.. glad I can help out.. Level 2's take a couple weeks at most.. could be faster than that.. my whole focus in the business this year is to speed up turn around time. The slowest time of the year is Oct-Dec .. It picks back up again about this time..

In regards to the previous discussion above:

Simple bowl blending, un-shrouding the valves, and taking the square corner off the top of the short turn, is not going to hurt performance at any rpm level. In fact, adding flow across the board improves cylinder filling, and enhances the power output, especially at the torque peak. It helps your get the most from your investment.

Yes Mark, I am sure we will develop a porting program for the 350 head, once they are released and we see the first set.

An air/fuel gauge would be your best friend to get the tune as close as possible for the drive to the track for the fine tuning.

No longer does anyone have to tune blindly, a bit of new tech goes a LONG way to dial in the old tech. Also if someone doesn't want to bother with tuning, the new throttle body injection systems are "self tuning" so I don't understand your concerns?

I understand his concerns. The more HP we generate out of these motors, the easier it is to hurt them if they are lean or there is too much ignition timing.

What I don't understand is what that has to do with common sense (IMHO) minimal porting to aluminum heads.

First off in the bold, duh.:D That would be a concern with or without that entry level porting getting it tuned in.

After pointing out using an A/F gauge or using a "self tuning" FI I wouldn't agree with him if the engine was tuned with the gauge or used one of those FI systems. Kind of messed up to just quote the last few words of my post out of context, I thought you were better than that Larry?

Like what JW said, around 15 HP across the board for that mod, IMO isn't going to make much of a difference at all as far as tuning it in goes, so it would take the same sort of effort either way.

You missed my point Derek. This thread is titled Stage 2 porting. Then Steve brought up tuning and how you can hurt the motor if it isn’t right. I understand that concern, but what does that have to do with the subject of this thread? The OP is going to make 500 HP with those heads standing on his head. So that was more aimed at Steve, not you. You said you didn’t understand his concerns. I said I did, but what does that have to do with the question posed by the OP. I have asked that a few times now. Read the entire thread.

I have a set that I'm kinda thinking about selling and kinda thinking about saving just incase I for whatever reason decide to hold off on the stage 2 heads.

I'm thinking I may make a build thread on this car.

hey guys thanks for the help but yea could we please keep it on topic. As frustrating as things get deciding what to do, Coming here and getting side tracked on threads don't help. Please and thank you (as my mom would say)

what exactly gets ported? what are the different levels of porting? blending? Please teach an uneducated dude that's looking at my stage 2 heads that look like they would flow amazing!! why is it such an art that can also be screwed up?

there is no straight forward answer to what gets removed when porting.

depending on what your goals are will effect this, some times you port for velocity, sometimes you port for max cfm in high lift, sometimes it just smoothing out the castings, helping the short turn, streamlining around the guides, and matching the port shape to the gasket.

but done wrong it's easy to kill flow
