Here are a couple of images of the red stripe found on the hood release rod from either a 71 or 72 A body. Don't know what plant it is from. The rod colour is either natural metal, phosphate grey or a combination of both with a little rust for good measure. Contrary to how it may appear in the photos, it is not red oxide primer. What is interesting is how much area the red stripe originally covered.

Here is a shot of a Flint 72 washer hose. Contrary to the repro hoses, the yellow is really as bright as the photo shows and is much wider. The stripe is actually two stripes joined by a cross hatch pattern. The 70 hose stripes are thinner and not as vibrant.

Supposedly the '70 is less vibrant.

You are right Dano. Here is a 70 hose for comparison.

The red stripes were put on the rods to show which end goes up.

You can install them upside down but I believe there would be some rubbing.

I know the parking brake pedal assembly is different compared to my Reynolds Flint built car and my other ‘70 cars built at other plants. (Forget what other plants) but they are completely different. Unless it’s an early late thing? Reynolds car is a very early car. By memory built 09/12/1969

Does your orig. rear still have any paint marks? I'd be suprised if not.

the differential I take is what you mean? I’ll look but from memory I would have to say no. Get back to you in 5 minutes

The original differential…is out of the car. Went all the way to Wa. State to pick it up along with some other original parts from the car. From Dave Knutson. That held some of the parts for his friend and then owner Dave Johnson. Who I bought the car from. It looks like this totally rust free rear end was painted at some point. So can’t see any paint markings at this time. It is an “ON” rear end. Do have the 4:78 ring and pinon stage2 gear set that’s all torn up. Don’t know what’s in this diff now. Never looked, maybe I will tomorrow.

There were a couple designs for the emergency brakes. I found this out when I was replacing mine.

One has the rod held to the assembly with an inverted (?) washer and the other is essentially affixed to the assembly.

They also have different shaped pedal arms. There may be a 3rd design as well.

Yes, interesting, but wonder why or what was the reason. I would think a sorce thing. Hence why I came to the conclusion of different plants?
