Thanks Chris. I did read an article dated mid to late November, 2021 on the net with reference to this very same car where at the end of the article it stated that "if you want to own this car it is currently listed for sale in California on Craig's list for $44,000 O.B.O". Did have a reply from a member of a Buick Group on Facebook who thought, as with you, the car was now in Washington. I am interested in buying this car however if a dealer has purchased it I am not sure what the laws are for having a State motor vehicle safety inspection done on this car. If the dealer purchased it from California and had it trailered into Washington then Washington State DMV would have no record of the car even existing unless the dealer put license plates on it. If I was able to track down this car I would hate to buy it only to find out it couldn't be insured/plated because it was not road worthy by not passing a safety. I reside in Canada and the rules for vehicles passing a provincial safety inspection prior to being allowed on the road are very strict. In the article on the net pictures of the car show it is now painted Black. If anyone happens to know the name/phone number of the dealer in Washington then I can contact them and ask my questions directly. Thanks again and have a great day.

WA State does not require a safety inspection. The pictures do not show a lic plate, so it is very possible that the dealer has not registered the car in WA, so you are right, WA DMV would not have record of it.

I guess they just scrape the web for cars and then mark them up and try to become the middleman...

I remember this car being for sale in the Bay area. The color change would be a deal breaker for me, but to each their own.

For those of you in the WA area, you may remember the dealership these two guys used to have, Kompact Kar Korner. Sold a lot of hot rods and musclecars, but didn't have the best reputation.

Huh, they were on Aurora Ave North.

Didn’t realize this. Thanks for the info.

looks like they went more high end now. Kompact Kar Korner had a mixed bag of cars as I recall.

Very funny. Actually there are still a bunch of reviews online and most of the complaints seem whiney to me.

When you buy a 1971 oldsmobile, you shouldn't complain that the wipers stopped working IMO. Some people should not own classic cars...

OK. Yes - remember it well. Lots of Corvettes. But a lot of cars that had issues covered up, from what I remember my dad saying back in the 80's (?)

Back in the eighties there was no internet. Had to rely on Auto Trader , the local paper, The Nickel, Hemmings . Always liked Kompacts adds and looked forward to them . They had some unique vehicles. Sure some vehicles may have had issues but they were reselling other peoples cars. Back then you didn't have all the repop stuff and muscle cars weren't restored to the level of today They became "Grocery getters".Some of these cars were 10 or 12 years old. Maybe slightly modified but enjoyed and driven . I remember an original paint 70 Hemi Cuda with 50,000 original miles at Puyallup that the owner was hoping to sell for $7000. I passed on a Hemi Daytona at $5000. A Shelby KR500 ragtop at $5000, 69 L88 Vette at $21,000. Like the Post above, who cared if the wipers stopped working.

Thank you for letting me know that this car was up for auction on eBay. I was the successful bidder and got the car for a few thousand below $60K. This same car was also being sold though a consignment business and the lowest the salesman would go is $65K so with buying on eBay I saved about 10K Canadian.

Yes I am very happy to have been the winning bidder on eBay however it seems there is a long way to go before I see it in my driveway. The seller requested I send an e mail copy of a utility bill along with a piece of photo ID stating this how he can prove he doesn't have to charge me any taxes with the car being purchased out of state (in Canada actually), then there is arranging for shipping/brokerage etc. as well When I do receive the car I will require a Manitoba safety in order to put plates on and go to my insurance agent and have ownership officially transferred to my name. When I started to ask the seller what form of payment he would like the seller stated he has to send me some documents/information first so not sure what I will be receiving. I would hope that a photo copy of the Title would be there as I understand that if there is a lien on the vehicle it will be indicated on the title. I may be being overly cautious but I am going to order a Carfax to see if any accidents/claims and how extensive are in this car's history and the seller has agreed to have Lemon Squad check over the vehicle as well have a Washington state safety inspection done (all of this I am willing to pay for just to put my mind at ease and ensure it is a quality car as was described as well as not having to sink alot more money into the car when I get it ).

Washington state safety inspection is not a real thing. The state patrol walks around the vehicle and checks the VIN. THAT"S ALL. I have put totaled cars back on the road here and the safety inspection is a total joke.

I spoke to the owner of Andy's Auto Repair in Lynnwood who told me for $150 he would go through the entire car to make sure it was safe and roadworthy checking the front end components, rust and frame condition on the underside as well as pull the wheels and mic. the drum/disc and check the pads and shoes and anything else that would make the car unsafe on the street. I have no doubt that a State Trooper would be effective at all by just doing a walkaround unless the car had an obvious hazard such as a crack running across the windshield that impairs vision.
