plant based fuels. it has been proven it can work and can be made from basically garbage weeds seeing how its basically moonshine. however its not the money maker oil or electric brings in. the power co ops are just as big of cooperation as oil companies and probably a worse monopoly. plus i think it scares big money seeing how someone could make it in the back yard. i personally have seen moonshine that has ran a lawnmower lol. its all politically charged and people in the pockets of big electric.

I read somewhere about how easy it is to make a hydrogen generator with aluminum cans and water with a little sodium hydroxide in it. A small amount of precurser fuel resulted in a range of over 2000 miles with a hydrogen engine.

    They said it: from NBC

General Motors plans to completely phase out vehicles using internal combustion engines by 2035, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mary Barra announced Thursday. The automaker will go completely carbon neutral at all facilities worldwide by 2035.

Barra has frequently touted GM's plan for “an all-electric future,” recently increasing to 30 the number of pure battery-electric vehicles it will launch by the middle of this decade, but this marks the first time the largest Detroit automaker has set a hard target for completely phasing out gas and diesel engines for all light-duty vehicles, including pickups and SUVs.

I wonder if they will still offer crate engines?

Except that's STILL what GM is doing; telling the 97% that buy IC that they have to buy BE. Those days are living on stronger than ever.

I wasn't going to get involved in this one, but the best thing I read on another forum (this is a big subject on many of them, and ones that let you go nuts are pretty comical to read the posts) is that the logo looks like an elephant thinking about jumping off a cliff. I found that to be pretty appropriate, as well...We just dropped Cadillac here at the dealership.

Can't agree, GM is giving the WORLD (not just greedy Americans) what the world is going toward. GM has to look at the world market to stay competitive. Several companies are going in the same direction.

Many dealerships are dropping Caddy. GM offered a buyout to dealerships after announcing the full electrification of Cadillac, which will happen earlier than the other established divisions. I'm not going to get into details, but I will say the way they've handled distribution and availability of Cadillac vehicles to the dealerships who want them and have customers to buy them definitely hasn't helped it become a successful brand. So adios!

One wonders if that wasn't planned to restructure Cadillac sales, possibly going to more stand alone speciality dealers not tied with other GM brands. Maybe a different buying experience geared to people that get it instead of those that don't - kind of like Tesla type buyers versus alot of guys on hear

About 150-155 out of 880 Cadillac dealers took the 'opt-out' package.

But you can 'give' consumers both, especially for as long as there's a business case for it.
By announcing a hard end to IC production, GM (and those other OEMs) are unquestionably dictating.

Hahaha! Dictating? Sorry GM and the other makes aren't pandering to 1% of the market. Get a grip.

You're welcome to start your own car line.. it's a free market. GM can build whatever they damn well please!

Which would cause huge costs having two different development lines, if you look at the new chassis the electrics will use at GM gas powered cars/suvs would not be able to share that style of platform. This is a change basically over the next 15 years, it's not like it's one day we will build gas and then we will start electric cars the next day, Wait, let me say it for you, The sky is falling, The sky is falling

I think we’re barreling foward into uncharted territory. The government and a lot of voters want this ‘green’ future and figure the engineers will map and clear the path as they go. As long as the solution can be bought, they don’t care that its greeness is debatable nor how much it’ll cost. (It’s not their money. Heck, it’s not even real money! Besides, it’s ‘worth it to save the planet’). The carmakers realized in the ‘70s that ‘you gotta go along to get along’, and as long as they’re singing the right tune the government will bail them out (and pass laws that force buyers’ hands) if it fails. I don’t think they believe in it any more than most tv preachers believe in prophesy.

Automakers have already done that in spades. Look to 'our' era: a full-size body, an intermediate, and perhaps a luxury coupe ('65 Buick). But in 2021... it's no good if you want an SUV that's 185" long and all that's out there is one that's 193"- each model is unique and there's one for every foot of length. Yes, a lot of the powertrain is shared across, but the bodies & interiors are all different. Trax, Equinox, Trailblazer, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe. Por que?

Consolidate the catalog and you have plenty of budgetary room... except consumers are now conditioned to have 56 choices.
