Thanks again for the breath of fresh air Bobb!!! It would be SO nice to be able to share information on this board, like it was only a year or two ago. Maybe it's just me, but the bigger this board gets, the cool, informative, sharing threads get fewer and fewer all the time. Guys, please don't let the nay-sayers, pessimists, and others keep you from sharing and helping the majority that really wants and needs your input and information that only you have!!

Thanks again Bobb :beer :TU: . Please keep fighting the fight!

Bobb, Your credibility is not in question here at all. My point is before anyone from the general public can buy a Bd block there is about 20 people that have long paid for a block and those orders have to be filled first. I'm almost willing to bet the farm that it will take until next summer or longer for Dick to square up those 20 odd orders. Please keep posting as much info as you can on your project, I want to run the same type of set up you are. I like the procharger deal better then a turbo simply because it still sounds like a muscle car still not a ricer, and I can use the headers etc that I have now. It is a very impressive set up you have :TU: Chris

I am looking forward to the day I go supercharged...but for now I gotta stick to the bottle...thanks for pioneering this new step in Buick Power...Fish

I hope the latest "Dick Bradshaw this and Dick Bradshaw that" post doesn't kill this thread. Up until that post, there was a lot of cool, informative information being shared. If anyone has any more info. to share, please do so. I promise, there are still guys like me wanting to hear it!!

Well I went to the track today. Things are getting closer I still have a top end charge issue but we think we have narrowed it down. Seems there is a voltage problem when everything is screaming and wanting a ton of power. but even with a minor lift off the throttle (shows just under two tenths of a second) MY 3675 LBS Buick ran a 9.07 @ 144 it ran thru the 1/8 at 5.67 @ 120. I think I was a lift away from a 8.90 pass what a way to go into the winter. But I'm happy after a summer of beating my head against the wall. WE get these couple of things sorted out next spring I have a good base line to start with.

    Bobb,
Sounds like it really wakes up at half track. 60' is good but at what rpm are you launching? What psi at launch?

What is the top end charge issue if you don't mind my asking.

How did you solve the carb gasket issue?

Boost is great huh? Have you started thinking root style yet?

just thinking outside the box here, but has anyone tried using LARGE Capacitors like the ultra-high end stereo guys use to even out the voltage peaks and trouphs ??

    Hey Bob,

What plug and what gap are you running?

    What Fuel Pump and Regulator?

What Needle and seat are you using?

What's the WideBand show your AFR at in 3rd when the issues happens?

How much alky are you spraying? Who's kit are you using, what's the nossle size, and PSI the kit is running?

Over the last few years I've beat my head against the wall a TON when I was trying to pioneer my ATI setup in a mostly stock state.

I've noticed the the little gremlins in these setups like to come out when the car is under a real LOAD. As you and I know, first and second gear doesn't load the powertrain up enough with the blowers no mater how heavy the car is.

I've beat my head on all the items I've mentioned above. I'm just wondering if your being plagued with on of the same things I was. I'd really like to see you get into the Mid 8's or High 7's running 22 to 24psi on that thing!

I run champion c59ts they are the race plug from champion.

Magna fuel prostar 500 and the boost compensated regulator

I don't have the carb info in front of me but Pro systems does all my stuff always have Patrick is good at what he does.

I have a big stuff 3 W/B it data logs they tell me but I have not gotten it to work yet and to be honest when it happened I lifted so I would bust the plugs and when I looked at it was at 12.1 so not to far out but I was off the gas at that point.

I'm not spraying any alky right now my controller is being fixed so its on the car but has not gone down the track with it. No intercooler or alky so it is straight hot air imagine next year with both. :Brow: :TU: .

I did notice on the data logged in the MSD that it was acting up 3 tenths before I lifted you can see it in the RPM's of the motor. They were very sporadic.

Yes these things are a hand full to try and track tune the dyno seems to go well and then you put them in the car and all kinds of gremlins jump up at you. This has been a trying year for me at Indy I heard that someone said that thing doesn't make the power he claims. But they have never done it so they have no Idea what it takes to make a stock suspension car work with that kind of power. Burt we are getting closer all the time if I would loss about 100 LBS and take another 50 or 75 off the car it might see 8.50's but I don't see me losing the weight so it will be what it is.

    Good Suff Bob,

Your absolutly right, there's a ton of variables in the tune.

Are your plugs gapped larger than .030?

Do you happen to know what size your "High Speed" bleads are in the carb?

It may be leaning out a bit once it hits third with a load and starts climbing up the RPM latter.

You'll hit 8.50's no question.... you will absolutly be amazed how much power the Methonal injection will add to your current combo :Brow: I've found mine is happiest if I tune my carb to (pump gas only) to 12.2 to 1 AFR (it's a bit on the lean side but still safe if the alky system fails for some reason). I then start adding Methonal until my tune is between 11.3 to 11.7. The power differance is crazy. Currently my alky system is pumping just under a quart a 1/4 mile pass I never thought it would use that much but it really takes it and likes it.

I bet if you had access to a chassy dyno where you could watch AFR and another items, you could really nail down what's plaquing the car right now..

Hats off to you Bob... way to put that new block to use in style!!! :beer

Gap on the plus is 24 over 30 they get blown out  man does that make some noise. air bleeds are 24 in the front and 27 in the back sound goofy but it liked it on the dyno. on the track I have it set kind of fat on the short side of the track as you can tell by the smoke out of the car in the video thats what is leading me to think it is a voltage issue I'm seeing. Need to get the alternator on it, after a run with two different battery's it will be down to just over 11 volts. barely enough to operate the MSD.
one of my buddy's runs a chassis dyno about 40 miles from here it will be on there this winter more than once I bet :TU:

Great news. Bobb. That thing is flying. For what it's worth, I saw a big difference when I put an alternator on my car a couple years ago. Without the alternator it acted alot like what you're describing. And just with my little old MSD. You have enough electronics to fly the space shuttle! Gotta have voltage, man.

You know, down here in Florida, we still have 2 or 3 months of racing left this year. And then take a month off, and then go back racing!!

Also, there's a BOP Race in Gainesville in December. How about a nice vacation for the family? They go to Disney, you go to Gainesville. :TU:

    Have fun.

Yes, I'm sure that will help.

I'm running a cold NGK Big Block chevy plug with good sucess. I've had them gapped at .030 and ran as much as 14psi without blowing them out so far.

Get an alt on that thing is see if it's as simple as a voltage issue... it would be fantasic it if was that easy.
