The new block looks real promising and thanks for the pics. Couldnt sombody machane their own main caps. Are the main caps registerd. How much does the block weight.
Bobb....ALL those pic's you provided are truely things of beauty!:TU: Any 8sec passes as of yet?:Brow:
Holy crap, talk about sucking in hot air. Bobb have you seen the reversed prochargers? You need a cold air pipe on that thing.
Guy's No 8's yet but we keep getting closer. The guy's that were at Morocco will tell you I gave a really good lesson in drifting. Traction is my enemy as of now. But we are learning to tame it down but so far we have gone to far each way. New tires are on the car for the next trip out. Went back to what I know Hoosier Radial slicks. In morocco I made a full tire spinning quarter pass video show the tires hazing 1100 feet out. And that was tamed down some so we will go a little more and see what happens :3gears: . Cold air intake is in the plan but I only have so many hours in a day and I'm behind on a few other projects already because of that car. The power it make as it sits is plenty right now anyways. I will end up with an intercooler in time but the things cost huge money. I do have alky injection on it right now but am still working on tune with out it. Once we get the thing to hook as is we will add the extra power. I'm running it with the big pulley and really fat right now for the same reason. I will tell you it has spent a lot of time at or above 8000 RPM due to lack of traction and I took it apart a month ago and I was the happy happy happy not often do you beat something as hard as that has been beat and have it come out looking sweet. It was reassembled with the same bearings that came out of it.
Bobb, you need cool air??? Just plumb it from the cabin of the car..cause you are one cool dude!! :TU: See ya later dude!! :bglasses:
Hey Bobb, how far can you open up the bearing clearances on these blocks? I know some of the Chebby guys are going bigger and bigger all the time. I just thought with the priority oiling and all, this block may be able to be opened up a bit. Again, thanks for all the cool and much needed information so far :beer .
MT w's Bobb, Have you tried the MT 29.5x10.5 15W tire or are they out dated. I have run them on my car for years but don't know how they would work with the big power. Chris
bearing clearances can be open a little If you wish but I have mine were I always but my race stuff. Nothing really different for me but I have restrictor in the oil galleys like a chev so almost all the oil goes down stairs. Chris I'm going to try and stay away from the w tires because most of the stuff I run it would but me in a different class. 10.5 w cars here run to win you need to run 7.70 to 7.80 to get in the feild it better go 8.30's. Strait 10.5 8.20's to win 9.50 will gwet you in. I think the stff side wall is very important with a heavy car so if I go back to a Bias tire it will be stiff side construction.
Bobb....Congrat's on your accomplishments so far! Have you been able to line up against Dave's little 2.5L turbo'd Mustang yet? I still cannot believe how that car will run! :eek2:
I'll post some pic's later tonight of my Coldair setup and intercooler... There are really nice Intercoolers out their for cheap anymore. The Bar plate cooler I have will support 1100hp and only cost 300 bucks.....
Have they gone to a multi pattern bellhousing like the TA V6 Aluminum blocks so you don't have to run an adapter to get a 4L80E or a T56 on the back of one of these? I really like the lifter valley, solid webbing is a nice change from the casting crap on the stockers. Does it require a custom oil pick up with the cap nearly right on top of the mounting boss? Thanks,
rich do they have one that supports more than that cheap :beer :TU:. send me a link to them. No it does not have a duel pattern on it
Here's the link.... http://www.treadstoneintercoolers.com/index.htm Check ebay for cheaper prices (that's where I got mine for 299). They quote the intercooler I bought as supporting up to 1280HP. The the one that looks like the Procharger 3 core coolers with virtical flow. I'll try to post some pics tonight.
Here's a smaller picture of the coldair pipe I made, intercooler that's installed and engine view of the all the piping I've fabed up. --Rich
