I actually have a 600 cfm on there and have great drivability and performance. Put a few hundred miles on it problem free. I added the small cap distributor in 2022 and it's been great. I have had a 2004r sitting on my garage floor for about a year that I want to get built and plan on adding a stall converter. Eventually the 750 cfm quick fuel will go back on. I had a series of big and small projects consume my life in 2022. It was crazy. I remodeled my rental house, bought a massive solar system for my primary residence, built a green house, and added onto my bmx/skatepark and so many other projects lol....I never stop. My time and resources were stretched thin....me and the wife both have love for traveling so now that work has slowed down for the winter I have Planned a couple trips...I'm flying out to Phoenix at noon today. Snowing and 30 here in iowa. I'll be at the Grand Canyon tomorrow morning! Every time I'm on a trip or pumping time and resources into other projects my car definitely crosses my mind lol. Like dang...but life is good and the car will get done eventually. And when I decide to prioritize it again , I'm going to hit it hard. And my car is gonna be bad a$$ 20220730_114405.jpg 20220730_151410.jpg 20220801_175212.jpg 20221001_183953.jpg 20221006_165649.jpg 20221006_165709.jpg 20221006_165709.jpg 20221031_181246.jpg 20221022_120427.jpg 20221112_145322.jpg 20220815_193733.jpg 20221126_154138.jpg

Wow! got the hammer down. I always say, got to have fun first while you can car will always be there. I am interested in the solar set up would like to do that does not seem too hard just have to know on good parts and install. I like that small getaway in the yard I could hang there need that out back here.
Once you add the 2004r stall and a 373 gear or so you will have great drivability. you could get away with a 355 gear with the 4 speed trans and a 22-2500 stall, and the lower 1st gear in the 4 speed will make up for all the rest. It has been in since 2005.

Wow it's been over a year since my last post.
Last winter installed a MSD set up in it, line lock, 3;73 gears. The car pretty much stayed on the trailer in the garage between races. didn't want to swap out tires, sway bar and shocks all the time. I have 2 tracks 4hrs away and 1 thats 2 1/2hrs away and our race season is from the first of March till the wknd before thanksgiving so I was racing sometimes twice a month. Was running 8.4s-8.6s @ 80-82mph with up to 8000ft. DA. Spent most of the season working on suspension to get it to hook on sh*tty tracks.
Days after the last race the motor came out because I need heads, valve train, oil pan, ect for the new engine thats being built and should be done in a couple wks. I was able to score a new roller cam that was ground and then changed his mind and went 455. Molner rods, and reusing the alum. heads and roller set up. Should be a good improvement over the 212HR.
By the looks of it gutter life is treating you good in my home state!

I hired out the solar installation but ended up getting involved because it was the installers first battery setup and things were not going well at first. It's been up and running since late September. October was a nice sunny month and the system performed really well , cutting my usage by 70 %. November was cloudy with shorter days my usage was down 30%. December was crap weather and my usage was down 3%. This is to be expected. I will over produce in the summer and that will be banked at the utility for me. The system is designed to completely eliminate my electrical bill. And as far as the carburetor goes. A lot of the reason why the car was kind of put back on the back burner....it just runs so dang good now. I can get in and drive anywhere. I can casually drive it not having to worry about a stall or a sputter. Performance is good enough. Not 100% consistent but can typically lay rubber. In some cases lay a hundred foot one wheel peel . But I'm not done. Definitely planning to finish the combo.

What part of iowa are you from?Guttering is good. 8 years in business now. I have 6 employees including my wife and I. The busy season lasts around 9 months. I work about 70 hours per week during that time. Me and the guys do alot of jobs. 2 to 3 per day. And usually work together, rarely splitting up. I have kept the prices low and quality high while simultaneously mastering efficiency. This has been a profitable business model for me. Most gutter companies don't send 4 or 5 people to gutter a house. But we have a system and we do them fast and with quality. Several gutter businesses have failed in the surrounding area. Guys want to charge 8 bucks per ft and wonder why they have no work. 8 years ago I was in a factory where after 9 years I made just over $20 per hr. I'll never forget where I came from. Gutter life has been good for sure but it took alot of work and blessings to get here. Follow my page at www.facebook.com/Krabillgutters were currently operating with a smaller crew and reduced hours for the winter. But go ahead and like /follow the page.

    Hellow fellow Iowan!
Des Moines raised, live in Stuart now (has a very small circle track which is fun) and will be moving back to dsm soon.
I think I'm the other member you mentioned who chassis dynod his car in dsm.
    Midstate Machine was the place.
My combo of stock bore assembled by me '71 350 with otherwise stock heads they did a valvejob on, crank and rods they cut with 3.0 pistons hung on em, a TA dual plane from 1993, hooker 1103 headers and dual 2.5 all the way back, no mufflers. 800cfm 17058241 qjet from Everyday Performance TA HEI with at the time around 34-36 total timing all in by 2600 made 247 wheel hp and 274 ft lbs. WOT afr was rich as hell at 10.8:1. I picked up a half second in the 1/8 swapping to a set of secondary rods two steps leaner (thicker).

Thanks a bunch for posting. Were you racing at eddyville? I'm only an hour from there. I'm in the Mount pleasant area. I can't wait to race my car some time. I have to try and get to the track while still running the stock turbo 350 and stock torque converter. So hopefully I'll visit a track this year.

Yes. Best run was a 9.3 at I think 80mph I can't remember exactly. I have the time slips at home.
    I also have a th350 but I've got a transgo shift kit and a hughes 2500 converter and Grand National 3.42 8.5 10 bolt.

I can get 17 mpg on the highway with a similar combo as you. But I have a 256 rear gear. I even left my bottom end alone. Even using original 56000 mile pistons

Is your speedometer accurate? When I swapped from 2.41 to 3.42 I thought I suddenly gained 5 mpg.

It's all stock so I believe so. I have done a couple 400 mile round trips and it doesn't take that much fuel. I bet you love that 342 gear. Did that swap make a night and day difference?

I basically went up (down) by a factor of 1, so now.quite literally third with the 2.41 feels like 2nd, 2nd feels like first, and first will rip your head clean off your body if you stab it from anything above 5mph.
My regal has the low back pillow top seats so I maaaaay be exaggerating a bit. But it feels exactly how I described, and definitely needs a 4th gear.
