SoundScape Mixtremes. Unfortunately they are no lomger made. Mackie bought the company out and decided to use the tech on their crappy products.:moonu: Good thing I was able to buy the second one on the cheap. Note also Bill that I have had this card for about four years and it still smokes most cards on the market.:eek2: :eek2:

Cool. I'd love to see a picture of it. By the way, I wonder what the record is for staring at the little dude "getting his groove on". My personal best is about 3 minutes...lol

    Amusing little sucker aint he?

it isnt really suprising there are so many musicians in this group. i have always concidered car people as artistic and creative as any other group of craftsmen or artisans. think about it, the art of the car is very visual [look at how much time we put into the lines and curves of the cars we drive, the paint, chrome and detail of most of these cars comes alive under the caring hands of the true gearhead. also, cars are very audiotory. the way we tune and fiddle with the cars to get them to purr, growl, and scream is most definitly akin to any other musical instriment, and how many songs try to emmulate the sound of a well tuned machine! and the idea of man and machine is very etherial and a part of our collective psyche that is as basic and primordial as the howl of the wolf or the cry of a baby. as basic as our need ot express ourselves through religion, war, or love. pretty deep, eh?

    Yes..makes sense. Thanks.
I think I have all the cords and adaptors too, and you're right, I have a basic Soundblaster.

I'll have to give it a shot.

How about any reccomendations on freebie (or cheapie) software that will let me try to remove some of the saturation? ("Digitally Enhance", if you will)
    Thanks again.

Hmmm.. Well I use a Mac for my music stuff, so I'm not sure I'll be much help since you're on a PC. I'm a big fan of Pro Tools... It is by no means an easy program to learn, but there are some EQ plug-ins that you can mess around with that might help out the sound. You can download the free version of Pro Tools here: http://www.digidesign.com/ptfree/ It only works on Win 98 or Win ME though...

Anyone have any better ideas for the PC?

That sounds like a GREAT idea! Now only if I had some car parts that someone wanted.

Speaking of guitars, check out what I just bought the other day:

I go away for a week & it seems like a lifetime! I'm a drummer since about 1978. I'm in a hard classic rock band. We play Skynard, Priest, Ozzy, Cream, Nazareth, Zeppelin, Foghat, BTO, 38 Special, Thin Lizzy And the list goes on. We play all around the Cleveland area. I have 2 hand -me -down sets. A perfect cond. 1968 Rogers 5 piece used for recording. Also i'm using a 1980 Premier 5 piece with over sized drums, Sabian & Zildjian Cymbals for live shows. But my newly acquired cymbal is a Prototype 21'' ride from Sabian. They accidently shipped it to my local store with their order. Meanwhile i know the store owner well & i purchased it. Sabian was supposed to pick it up & didn't. This cymbal was hand hammered for sure & is a nice unique piece of art. I'd like to E-bay it to see what it will bring in. :Brow: Randy

    SmittyDawg Need another garage....

Guitar, piano and sing (ya, I kinda dig Karaoke!) since I was 11 years old (I'm 45 now). Had a relatively successful band through high school, then the doctor said I had to quit with the loud music (long story). Problem is, all self-taught and play by ear.....never learned to read music....wish I had.

Sure cool to see so many musicians on board!

newer Fender Strat that I bought for my son (tee-hee)
    Taylor 6-string acoustic/electric

Hey Cole my band can't read music either! My guitar players use the "cheat sheet" tabs off the net. The tab, CD & a good ear works wonders. ( at least with us):beer Randy

After college my best friend and I moved to Athens GA to do the band thing. (We were a little late-- all the A&R men were rushing to Seattle!) We were pretty successful, in that the band payed for itself. Still had to keep a day job. Played all over GA and South Carolina. But I just was not ready to take the next step to try to commit to it full time.
More into songwriting and arranging that actually playing.

Here's a flyer from one of our gigs. This was back when "cut" and "paste" involved scissors and Scotch tape.
    Look familiar?

Found this old photo the other day. This is a pic from the summer of '80. This was a party at a friend's ranch north of Dallas. I was told that the great Johnny Gimble was gonna be there playing fiddle. Now for those of you that aren't up on Texas Swing music, Johnny played fiddle for the great Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. He was there playing with Merle Haggards band. At that time most of Merles band was from the Dallas/Ft.Worth area and played locally when not on the road. That's me on the right. Just a young'un! Check out my cool hat.

I believe we were playing "Take Me Back to Tulsa" in that pic.

I play tuba, and I'm the sound designer/operator for a local theater. Full 40 channel mixing board and 5,000 watts of sound at my fingertips...mmm... The subs stand 4 feet tall and are 3 ft wide. They are behind grates on the walls and I rattled one of them off once...oops.
