Just curious how many musicians we have on the board.
If you play something.. what do you play?

I started playing drums before I could reach the base and hi-hat pedals. As I grew older and would sit-in with my dads band on drums, I decided I wanted to play guitar real bad. I took my income tax return and bought a cheap amp and a brand new Strat about 10 years ago, and haven't turned back to drums ever since. I still enjoy playing them, but really like guitar better.

Who's my guitar influences you ask?
Oh.. you didn't ask. But I'll tell ya anyways. :gt:
    SRV, Jimmi, Clapton and Page!

Here I am playing my trumpet in the Southern IL University Edwardsvill Concert Jazz Band last year. I haven't been able to play really at all since Easter. It kinda bums me out. But I have my car to cure that!

    Singing...cool:TU:

I was in the vocal jazz ensemble for a couple years. I'm known around the area as a really "bitch" scat soloist...

I guess from years of playing jazz trumpet it carries over to my voice solos. Fun stuff....I miss that almost more than the trumpet!

    SAX, BASS

Let's see...............I played Tenor Sax while at Geneva College. I played jazz band for four years, and five years of college marching band.

I had a lot of fun in marching band believe it or not, but also during my college years I played bass and sax for a punk/ska band. I've been to so many dumps to play shows in PA and eastern OHio...........Let's see I guess the best shows were where we opened for the Insyderz (well known Christian ska band) at Pittsburgh's Club Laga and I helped out with my roomates band when they opened for P.O.D. before they got big. It really cracks me up that the show was in some dudes basement in Masilon, Ohio. That was 1997. I really miss my band. I'll have to dig up some pics to post.:Do No: :gt:

BTW: Rick that is a beautiful Gibson!!

    Thanks Ratroaster
I traded my first cheap strat in towards that one about 5 years ago (it's actually an Epiphone, but who's counting) :gt:

My newest is the SRV Strat on the left. I LOVE it!!
And I just got the little Peavey in the photo about a month ago off eBay. It's a great little amp. It's a "Backstage Chorus" with dual 8" speakers, 2 channels and built in chorus, reverb and the foot switch. I think I like it better than the Marshall stack which costed 7 times as much.

    Ivan...
What do you do with all that? :eek2:
    I have a basic Dj setup with a mixer/amp/speakers..etc..
We also use it as a PA when we jam. Matter of fact, thats why I bought all the stuff was for jamming. I ended DJ'ing for a few years to let it pay itself off. :gt:
But what you have is obviously for alot more than "playing around". Looks like you do alot of audio/video editing?

    musicians?

I've been playing with the guitar since I could pick one up. I have a 1965 fender mustang, Red with white marble pickguard and rosewood fretboard. My brother bought it used in february of 1966 when he palyed in a band called "The growing confusion" I've allways loved that name.

Anyways the guitar was manufactured on october 18th 1965 so I guess my brother should have bought it as slightly used. :Brow: I've played many another guitfiddle but none compares in my hands or mind to my trusty mustang. Oops! we're a buick board arent we?

Well maybe I've played a strat or two that were worthy, Oh yeah some of those heavy gibsons played pretty well. I met and partied with Allen Collins of lynyrd skynyrd fame and got to play that weird looking gibson thingee he played on free bird and other memorable skynyrd songs. That thing had the lightest action I ever played. You could allmost play slide with you're fingers but gawd was it heavy. I bet it weighed forty pounds or so. Maybe it was the taters:Dou: Oh well may he rest in peace.

I bet heaven has a killer band. just think about who's there

HUH.................I had a friend whose band used to open for us, he had that same style guitar, but it was a Gibson. Gibson/Epiphone...........same thing except I believe my freind traded three guitars to get one.

Probably the coolest guitar I know is the Harmony Rocket. The old Harmony, not the newer crappier ones. The Rocket is the sweetest accoustic/electric out there.

Now if your talking bass guitars, you need to have a Rickenbacker. They are so wild!:Brow:

i am a guitar dabbler. i though it would be appropriate to learn a little about the music i like the most to listen to. understanding chords and notes and technique comes in handy when you are heckling some poor schmuck:rolleyes: it is a great way to pick up chicks!:TU: and gives me something ELSE to do :bglasses:

Wow with this many musicians on board we should all try to compose a few songs. We can figure out what people use for recording and take it from there. We can email a file and one guy can add to it and then pass it along. I use Nuendo for most of my tracking. We can use wav format at 24 bits 44.100. Who knows just an idea. Someone that plays drums can start it up. I mainly do all my stuff in the electronic realm. So drums are simple on my end. Maybe something jazzy with some heavier elements???

  18. 11SecondGS

    11SecondGS ROCK THIS

    I rock too

I play guitar. I recently built my own guitar using a Kramer body and maple quilt top neck, with a Floyd rose Double locking tremolo with the EVH D TUNA.

    I voiced it with

    A SRV custom rewind
An EMG active pickup (front humbucker)
and I ordered a custom rewind from seymour duncun.

I have set up my guitar so it is the fastest thing I have ever played.

Cost me about $400 but was fun to build.
I also play the Saxes, piano, and used to be a drummer.

I'll I want to do in life is play guitar for a living, and drive buicks.

Cool to see so many musicians on the board! I've been writing and playing music since before I can even remember.

Here's something a little more recent:

"Girls Who Park In Cars" (1.5MB mp3)

Here's my studio before I moved... now it's finally coming out of boxes!

I've been jammin on the drums for a long long time now. I think I got my first kit when I was about 6 or 7? (You know... one of those kiddy kits.) Been bangin the skins ever since. I'm in a band located in Columbus called MAGI.

The MAGI Site - Check us out if you're in to metal :)

Here are my tools of choice... (Tama RockStar 5pc, [double kick pedal] Sabian Cymbals, LP ice bell, I prefer the Vater Rock sticks- the FATTYS!)

Oh yeah, I also play a killer air guitar!
