Just counted 2 more, we now have 85 cars confirmed for the event.

That's 10% of all the 70-72 GSX's that were built.

To answer some questions. I don't think I heard from Curtis yet, but if he can bring his car that would be great. Have him give me a call some night when he has time.

I will see about some GSX racing, but there may not be time to do this. The Car Show/GSX Re-Union will take up quite a bit of the Saturday schedule, and I already know the magazine people are interested in getting various shots of the cars, which will entail some rearranging of vehicles. Adding more to the schedule would take a bite out of the racing time slots, and that is something I don't know if we could do.

However I am sure if you want to race your "X" in one of the racing classes that could easily be arranged.

Not sure I want to race now with Rusty's help to purchase 4-Goodyear G60-15s at the going rate, but maybe, short block for #14 is done, Transmission is original and will need clutches, but no problem, it will be a Pure Stock Racer for sure, 11 yrs after it's debut at Pure Stock in Stanton, MI on the Muscle Car Speed Show! Should be alot of great fun! and then some! See you in August!

    DL,
Without looking at the list we probably have another 25-30 "maybes" that I am not counting, including someone I won't mention. :Brow: Plus I know of another 3 or 4 that are definately coming, but I am not adding them in until they contact me.

Duane we have been putting the word out here in Indiana and possibly have 3 more GSX's that you probably are not aware of that is interested in attending.

The owners are not online but I will try and get them to contact you in advance.

We are only 11 away from the centry mark. I sure hope a lot of the Maybes find a way to make it happen. This event will be historic.

What's the current count? Any schedule of events? Any after hour activities or gatherings?

Looking forward to being there if all works according to plan...

I was just reading on the GSX Registry that the production sheet is usually found on the gas tank? What do they mean "on" the gas tank? Like glued on the tank? What are the odds that it is still intact? Also, what is a broadcast sheet?

    Rob,
When I add Tothna to the list that would give us 90 cars.

We are working on a schedule of events and should publish them soon. For the car show people we will be having at least 1 resto clinic at the track on Friday.

One of the topics will be about sub-assemblies. Knowing whether a part was installed singly or as part of a sub-assembly often dictates how the part was painted/plated on the finished vehicle, and gives insight as to the methods & parts used to attach these pieces. This is an important topic that is very mis-understood. We will also talk about the importance of NOS vs original pieces, and should have a few examples there. (I believe Mark Reeves will be bringing some door handle examples for comparisons.) We may even have a couple talks from some very special guests. (More on that later.)

Also on Friday, I have been asked by several owners to go over their GSX's to determine if various parts are original or not. Quite a few of these cars are either unrestored or semi-restored and the current owners are looking for some info.

As far as after hours activities,
Thursday night we do a "meet & greet" in the parking lot next to the "Ruby Tuesdays" in town. We get between 30-40 cars to show up and just plain have a good time. (This year we expect a lot more cars to be there.)

The next two nights, everyone goes out to dinner and then travels to the various hotel parking lots looking at/talking about cars. (Just like we do at the GSCA Nats) We often have inprompto resto-clinics going on at the host hotel, because I am often asked originality questions and soon after that the car hoods in the parking lot start going up. My wife Beth laughs about this every year and says I am teaching class again.

    Tothna,
There are 3 different "build sheets" that can be found for a 70 GSX. When you call Monday night I can tell you what they look like and where to find them.

    Duane,

Thanks for the overview of what to expect.

I am planning/hoping to arrive Thursday mid afternoon. I really hope the weather is great as I am looking forward to driving the car around town to the various "meet & greet" activities.

Add me to the list of those who will ask you to look their car over carefully in an effort to understand "what else" I need to do in order to continue getting it closer to original.

I think I need to try to find a hotel for the event as it may too late to get into the host location.

Looking forward to a fun time!!

I pulled the tank out of my GSX last weekend to replace the sending unit. I found the Production Order Body-Final duct-taped to the extreme passenger side top of the tank under the sound deadening pad. It was in remarkably good condition for a 39 year old sheet of paper, every line is legible. I was thrilled to say the least. This is the second sheet I have found in the car.

    See you all in August.
