The best one is what my buddy did at McDonalds. They now have those kiosks at the place to use when you go inside and he did not see it and then when he had to use it he had a worker come over and show him how to use it. I think it would have ben easier to just go up to the cash register and give your order.

Now you get to spread your booger finger all over the buttons on the kiosk and you do not know how to use it, what a joke.

They need self checkouts at Marcs when we go there they have 2 people working the cash register and there is a line to get out. It took 15 minutes to get out of the store because of this.

This crap all started with self serve gas stations and I really didn't think it was going to happen since it was gas and there are some people that are just plain dumb and shouldn't be using a gas pump

How many of you all have used the gas pump and some idiot left the pump handle on automatic on that handle hold?

We have a business where there's ALOT of grocery shopping. Have been using "ordering groceries" and delivery for a few years now. Once she (yes wife runs it) started the SAVINGS $$$ was shocking. Ever seen a person impulse buy when grocery shopping. My wife is no exception.

My question is what would you think about self checkout auto parts stores? We all already do plenty of online parts shopping for all kinds of reasons.

My response was influenced by Waterboys posts. If I hadn't read them I would have said the self checkout is my preferred method. Not for grocery but for hardware or wallmart. Because if you can get over on at least 1 item it makes the trip feel a whole lot better. I really like buy one get one free. Or put the smaller item in the bigger item. And I still sleep great at night. In fact better.

Those who believe they're "putting one over" on stores utilizing self checkouts are narcissists fooling themselves. ALL costs associated with theft are just passed down to everyone who buys from those stores. WalMart won't lose sleep over that either.

I think people are reading it as "do you like self check-outs", and missing the crammed down our throats part. Our Publix supermarkets started putting in self check-outs a few months ago. It is like they are trying to force you to use them by not having regular registers open, or only having one register open. I have no problem with self check-outs but they still should have real registers open. Plus, I think I should get a discount for using the self check-out! I am saving them money.

Thief. I have no use for people that steal and then openly brag about it.

I was just at Stop an Shop around 9:00 and they open at 6:00..
One cashier only after 3 hours open, 3 quick scan with belts and another 4 tucked away with just the kiosk and tiny shelf.
This only cashier was the only one who could clear a erroro_O on the self scan.

Greg, I think we are kinda talking about the same thing??
This one quick scan that was just a old cashier lane with the belt, you have to put the scanned item on the area below on the metal shelf where they stack the bags.
Not in the bags or on the rollors after you scan:rolleyes: or it locks you out and you have to start all over again. Been this way for months now.
Also no lie, Stop an Shop had bags from Shaws! I noticed the yellow color of them but only till I got home I saw they were labeled Shaws.

Someone hear posted about the people on the corners asking for money. Same here and they have a setup camp at a 4 or more realistic 6 way corner. You come across a few of them if you doing errands and traveling back and forth.
Some have ex Vets signs and some just say homeless. This corner is suppose to be the 3rd worse in the US as far as accidents.
It should be very close to impossible to be homeless these days with stimulis money and landlords needing income to pay their mortgages. Plus Vets being homeless is insane.
I use to give regularly but I rarely do anymore. They also leave trash everywhere.

The police have relaxed the rules and let them stay for some reason or two..

Nothing wrong with plastic bags. I don't throw them away, I reuse them for other purposes. Every plastic grocery bag that I reuse is one less new plastic bag that someone else has to make.

Yes, but before you go down that road, I left it right beside the employee that was wiping registers down and answered my question about whether a human cashier was available. Nice try.

I try to use a cloth reusable grocery bag. I try not to take plastic bags, but it's amazing how many groceries are prepackaged in them. Both of the local major supermarkets have bins where they will recycle them. One thing that I have learned is that if there are any paper stickers on plastic bags they will be thrown away. Once in a while I will end up with a plastic bag that I can reuse.

I began saving grocery store tote bags years ago. Have a nice supply stashed away to use for my kitchen trash. Generally takes me two weeks to fill one.

Wonder if you're thinking of the thin, single use, produce section bags you detach from rolls? Trying to open those can be most annoying, especially when you're wearing a muzzle and can't lick your fingers to aid that process.

Same here, although half the time I need one more. :D Always have several extras in my SUV I can fill while loading up my groceries.

I vaguely remember when they instituted the use of plastic over paper bags, but I don’t remember why?

Kroger has always been horrible to their labor. I have seen multiple generations of checker forced out, so they could bring in cheaper young people who start from zero.

It's kind of hilarious people want to blame the government for corporations cutting labor costs. I guess it's convenient to blame the government for everything.

I hear you on that one.... I know or should say knew quite a few Fred Meyer employees.... They where normal happy go lucky people lived stress free.. Kroger comes in and just destroys them.... From smiles on and off work to frowns.... Big Corporations NEED to be destroyed......
