I can tell some of you guys have never worked as a retail manager if you think stealing from a store is a victimless crime. My wife was a retail manager for 25 years and waiting to find out what her "shrink" was after an inventory was nerve-racking. If it was over a certain number it cut into her bonus which was a large part of her salary. And if it was high enough she would lose her job.
Next time you guys are shoplifting, just remember, you may cost a hard-working manager their job!

You seemed triggered by his theft. Maybe you should report him to the local authorities.

Dang Still people talking about theft It is what it is. Larry has it right this self checkout is coming just like self serve gas pumps.
I bet when we we go to Marc's grocery store today there will be Two people working the register and there will be 15 people waiting to get out and they bag slow.
At this point give me a self checkout We bag our own and we are quick, see ya later Alligator

This thread is beginning to get annoying. One side trying to change the other's position usually ends not so well. o_O

Think I'll go hang out in the cooking thread for a while. :D:D Should someone's food dish inspire me, a grocery trip may be in order.....when they're not busy....and there will be a nice person at the checkout counter. :p

Well you can still get a checker at a wrecking yard. As I see no advantage to the opertunistic customer with self checkout at a wrecking yard

I don't agree with you and I won't reveal the things I've done. But I will say that I'm not any better than you.

As I have gotten older maybe alittle wiser too…..I have tried to simplify things such as…..
    1. If when it’s time to checkout at the store the lines are too long, I leave the cart and go home. 2. If I can’t self checkout because I have fruits and veggies and I have to play checkout person I leave the cart and go home.
    3. If anyone in the store or even restaurant gives me a attitude and I feel like my money is unappreciated at that place, I go home.
    4. If they tell me at that store or restaurant my GUN is not allowed, I go home.
    And this is the Biggie….
    5. I decide who, what, where and when my money goes, I won’t even bother to argue with these minimum wage Nazis, I may give them a hearty F@&?Off, but I usually feel quite proud of myself for not playing their little control game.

Real men have principals, I respect Diego for this. For example I don't wear a face diaper, and I carry a doctors note that explains that my body needs an un-obstructed supply of fresh air instead of re-digesting my own exhaust. Any store that refuses to serve me is on camera discriminating against me and the lawsuits are mounting. Same with the Vax pass, passport system. Any store that asks me for my medical information is breaking the law and they will be held accountable. This is why the world is in such a mess at the moment, dudes that aren't men are running around following a bunch of mandates that break the constitutional freedoms which can never be taken away. Unless people give up their freedoms, which is the case for most people these days.

Yeah I get triggered by thieves, after loosing a $5000 transmission for my race car to a "friend", then finding it in his house 4 years later its a serious game changer. My trans is now in my car and the police were never called, he will never be the same. Running my own small business I also had to deal with theft. An employee was doing side jobs using my reputation to get the contracts, I spent $15,000 in lawyer fees to re-coup $9,000 from the perpetrator. I called this a win as I needed to teach this SOB a lesson, its not about money its about principal.

Anyone defending thieves is even worse than the thieves, your mothers should be ashamed.

And before anyone claims I am sitting on a high horse, I have done a theft as a youth, served my month in jail and never went down that road again.

Any thieving that is overlooked is simply allowing these scoundrels to push further and further into the justification of taking anything they want no matter who else looses.

What do we call the people identifying as men but acting as Karen's? Ken's?

I'd say abandoning a shopping cart because the checkout line is too long is the quintessential "Karen" behavior.

I’d say that, in my case, the store manager was the Karen. She saw lines backing up into the aisles and heard customers at first politely asking for help, yet refused to direct or allow the help (several of whom were there, trying to help people with cartloads scan and bag their own groceries) to open registers they know how to run (I’ve seen these same people run registers very well). All because the screen hanging from the ceiling and corporate rules, based upon motion detectors and traffic monitors, says ‘No’.
It wasn’t that bad when I walked in. Had it been, I would have pivoted then. In times past the manager would pull people from other jobs to handle a crush, but this time was different. She chose to let it back up and get bad. She chose to serve Rodney instead of her loyal customers. In that case, yes, I left a cart sitting there. It was her choice not to help me spend my money there. Hell no I wasn’t going to walk the store again and put it all back, and I sure as hell wasn’t going to stand in a line that started at the damn meat case because she was stubborn.
