That would definitely be the NORTH Cascades chapter Harvey. The Puget Sound Chapter meets down South in Covington ( I know, you have no idea where Covington is). Covington is about 20 miles North of Puyallup, but still way SOUTH of where the NORTH Chapter probably meets.

    Brian,

I National sounds great, but I would think you would need a lot of support to pull that off. I know the Puget Sound chapter isn't very strong either, I know in the last newsletter they said paid members had dropped from 50 last year to 25 or so this year.

    North Cascade Chapter

    Harvey and Chris,

The North Cascade Chapter, Buick Club of America meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the Golden Corral restaurant on State Avenue in Marysville. 6:30 PM for dinner and 7:30 PM for the meeting.

Our group has grown substantially during recent years. Major recent events have been the July, 2003 Seattle Caravan to the Buick Centennial in Flint, Michigan. We had a large number of Buicks that made the trip from Seattle, and our chapter members won three of the nine awards presented at the Centennial. In February of this year, we hosted the National Board of the BCA in Seattle.

Chris, I will look for you at the upcoming events and will make you aware of additional shows and tours coming up this year, including a joint tour on August 14 with the Puget Sound Chapters of the Olds Club and Pontiac Club. Do you know Jeff Cornish? He has a blue/white '69 GS400 Stage 1 hardtop and a '69 GS400 convertible. Jeff is very active in our chapter.

Harvey, I will be on the lookout for you as well, and hope that we can talk about upcoming calendar items that you might be able to participate in. We have current members as far north as Bellingham, and have had some British Columbia members at various times. We would be delighted to have you join our Chapter.

By the way, there is an excellent annual show this Sunday (May 30) in Bellingham. Sponsored by the Antique Auto Restorers Club in Bellingham, this is one of the finest all makes car shows in the region. Several of us hope to attend. Let me know if either of you have an interest.

    Re: North Cascade Chapter

Yep, I know Jeff, have run into him numerous times at shows and had lunch with him and his dad a couple of times! He has also helped me out immensely with some parts when I needed them. Great guy!

I won't be able to make the Bellingham show, Memorial day weekend is "yard work" weekend at my place, so I need to be a good boy if I have any hopes of coming out and playing on June 5.

Hope to make it to that show and meet you, if not, I will see you in Puyallup. I posted about the June 5 show on the turbo board and I think some of those guys will definitely be there!

    Bellingham Show

Harvey, the Bellingham show is located at Boulevard Park, which is right on Bellingham Bay. All of us who show cars are able to park on the grass; this is a beautiful setting for a car event.

Are you familiar with the old Fairhaven area of Bellingham? This is the historic area at the south end of town. Take the Old Fairhaven Parkway / Chuckanut Drive exit from Interstate 5, which is the southernmost Bellingham exit. Drive to the light at 12 St., and turn right. You will drive north through the heart of Fairhaven. Continue north, and you will see Bellingham Bay behind condominium developments. In about a mile (estimated), the road will angle to the right. At that point, you will probably see signs for the car show. You will turn left and drive down the hill into the park entrance. (Anyone in Bellingham can probably give directions to the park.)

The show begins at 10:00 AM, with parking beginning at 9:00 AM. It is good to be there early, since this is a popular show when the weather is nice. (Forecasts are looking pretty good for Sunday.) There is a $5.00 published registration fee, although I have often found that the sponsoring club opts not to collect the fee on the day of the show.

I'll be on the lookout for your Buick. Is it a '71? GS? Color looks like '71 "Burnished Cinnamon"; is it? Not sure whether I'll have the '71 Centurion or '59 Electra there.

    Your signature says it's a '71 GS

Harvey, your signature makes it clear that your car is a '71 GS. Sorry that I missed that! -- See you on Sunday.

    Dan

No sweat - looks like the weather is going to get crappy for a while anyway.

My work schedule this week is also nuts. I might not be able to make it even if the weather is ok.

    Maybe next week.

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

Never use the R word when speaking of a car show!

How about a report of the Smokey Point show?

Chris, will they be doing sign ups for the Puget Sound chapter there? I wasn't aware they met in Covington, heck I can actually drive there in less than two hours.. gotta love our traffic.

I am sure they would love to have join the club! There will be plenty of folks on hand to sign you up.

I didn't make it to the Smokey Point show, I was working on getting the Buick tuned in the morning (actually I was mostly just watching) and it was raining at my place late morning/early afternoon.

    Hey

I just realized that I hadn't mentioned that I am going to Puyallup on Friday.

I will be leaving Vancouver (the real and original one - sorry Canadian guys) WA early Friday afternoon and spending some time in Olympia on the way up. However I will be in Puyallup by early evening and will be staying at the Holiday Express.

Anyone else going to be in the area and want to meet up for a beer and swapping of Buick stories? Let me know.

Looking forward to seeing all you V8 guys.

    See you on Saturday

Harvey, I look forward to meeting you at the Bellevue Park and Ride on Saturday morning at 8:00 AM.

    I'll be traveling with a '68 GS400 convertible and a '69 GS400 Stage I hardtop -- among others -- so you'll be in great company!

    Re: See you on Saturday

    Brian,

Harvey is not going to be meeting in Bellevue, he is coming to Renton, so he can drive my Stage 1 down for me!

Is the 69 Stage 1 Jeff Cornish by chance???

But we will see you in Puyallup!

    Hi Brian
Sorry about not meeting you in Bellevue. It was a choice of an extra 30 minutes sleep or drive Chris' X to Puyallup. That part was easy. Me driving Chris' car to Puyallup means my wife has to drive mine. That was the difficult part of the decision! (Just kidding dear if you happen to read this!) So we are going to be at Chris' place around 7:15 and then I guess meet up with the others at the Auburn mall at 8 so we'll be a few minutes ahead of you. I'm really looking forward to this show as it will be my first time ever displaying a car. :bglasses: What should I bring along for the day? I'm thinking a couple of chairs, cooler , lots of sun screen, cleaning stuff for the car.....???? Does any :beer happen during the day??

    Harvey,

I think you covered everything you need to bring!

I don't think you are allowed to drink beer "at" the show, as you aren't allowed to wander the streets drinking alcohol in our fair state, however the show is held in conjunction with a street fair, and they have booths set up with "beer gardens" about 100 feet from the show, and you can drink beer there!
