The car that Scott Miller purchased from Warren Hartman did not have a Stage 2 scoop. Frist photo when Warren had in car show and second photo when car was delivered to Scott.
I’ve seen plenty of cars tore up here. Not picking everything. And shooting em down. Some do get praises of course. And yes some pertinent info was found. On top of the picking it apart. Again.
When Scott got the Sloan Museum report and found out that GSX was not a real. He listed here on V8Buick and Ebay with the Stage 2 motor.
Warren (Kelly) Hartman bought the car from Tom Ulery who was long time Buick fan here in the Columbus area. Car although originally white, was painted gulfstream blue when Warren purchased it, and the original motor was gone at that point. I am not sure if Tom was the original owner of the car, but he did race it for a time. Kelly mentioned to me about cloning a GSX and being in need of parts, and I obliged him by selling him the steering wheel, the quarter extensions w/o trim, and the 24 hour clock which were installed during restoration. Engine was built by Jegs around a set of iron stage 2 heads Kelly had purchased from a local dirt track racer, Gene Whetnall (I think I spelled the name correctly), who actually had two pair at the time, the other pair purchased by Trey Musgrove. Car sat for quite a while in the Jegs warehouse on 11th Avenue while I worked there ca.1990-91 waiting for the engine to be finished and installed. Was a pretty nicely done restoration/clone when finished. It still pains me though that both pair of those iron Stage 2 heads escaped my grasp.
Dano, Those "oddball" car orders were basically mistakes back in the 70's. They just about stopped you from ordering weird color or option orders. But, I think the high optioned cars were the best! And most desirable. I had a 69 Camaro SS RS, with the 396ci, 4spd, chambered exhaust, houndstooth interior, fiber optics signaling, A/C, posi, etc, and I loved that car! Rallye Green with white hockey stick stripes. Wish it had the short little rear spoiler but it didn't. You can see, we were a GM family!
Wow, great history on the car - Thanks Jim! In this case, I suspect it was ordered this way. I'm not sure how Sloan (vs. Wayne Roberts format) would indicate an SCO but I wouldn't be suprised if it had a 3.91 or 4.30 orig. In the case of my low option Stage 1 4-sp coming w/a clock instead of a tach, or the low option Stage 1 4-sp I looked at once that orig. had a rim blow steering wheel instead of a Rallye Steering wheel, I suspect a mistake in ordering by the dealer or order entry at Buick on both.
