friend gave me a bottle of comp cam , cam lifter assembly lube like this [IMG]

I was gonna get a bottle of ZDDP for the oil, less there is better?

what I was gonna do is mix the ZDDP with just 1 quart of oil, soak the lifters in that, pour rest into engine.

Ok I was just about ready to say some pretty harsh words on what kind of person puts an empty booze bottle into a mail box.

I then notice it has writing on it, I then notice it has 4 push-rods inside it ;)

jay3000 using his creative shipping skills once again , thanks guy.
Though they did almost escape one more shift and they would of come out the cap.

Thank guy, and you might find something in your mail box, I had a few extra Buick items I didn't need....

Now im just waiting for TA-performance to invoice me on the set of lifters...........

    Questions:

#1 Torque specs on the rocker shaft bolts? - locktite?

#2 how long before I change the oil? Only lifters being broke in so maybe just a filter change? [ keep the break in additive in there for a bit ]

jay3000 strikes again, I only needed 2 but he sent 4 push-rods, ended up needing all 4. hadn't pulled all the lifter and such out till today [ just the two flipped ones] 2 of the other ones had been rubbin on the head where ya can't see till out.

    alec296 i need another buick

No locktite. I think torque is 35 . clean and dry threads as I just had bolts not tighten down was hydrolock. Too much oil in tread.

No locktite, torque is 25 ft. lbs. Tighten them down evenly, a little at a time.

So how long should I take it easy?

Feels like I got allot more umph, have the urge to go through an intersection, pedal to the floor, tach pegged out and smoke rollin......... ?

If it sounds good, and oil pressure is good, you can beat the snot outta it if you want, but do it on a vacant street, not a busy intersection:cool:

Just don't beat on it when the oil is cold. Wait until everything is up to temperature.

ll is still going great, did the 300 mile oil change. Used ZDDP maxx

The one odd part is the puff of smoke on cold start up has returned. Did that when I got it as it sat allot [ old guy just went up n down the street ] and its on the pass side, and that side was the exhaust lifter that flipped, Im guessing that as that lifter worked right less and less oil didn't leak down the valve as easy. Now that its back to full stroke operation, puff the magic dragon................

but it only after it sits for a while and quickly goes away.

Got some advice from Everyday Per, haven't used it all cept I put in some AY rods, what a difference they make over the CZ's

The smoke is probably valve stem seals...

Wow. I would see if you can order two lifters. take the rockers off should be like 4 bolts remove push rod and see if lifter comes out should slide out smooth. if its been bured at the end then it wont come out easy and may scratch the hole it sits in. if thats the case then you will have to take the cam out. you can do that with engine in the car. but will need to remove radiator, timing coverand if you have AC the condenser. Its not difficult to remove. if you do take the cam out then you might as well put a new one in and new gears and chain plus new water pump. if they look in good condition then its just all labour and new gaskets. I would think. Also rebuild oil pump if you do end up taking timing cover off. with cam out you should be able to push the lifters into the engine and using a screw driver and a hollow tube cut in half or a peice of vinyl siding cupped into a semi circle sleve feed it into the front of where you take the cam out and then push the lifters through and work them out of the fron cam hole.

Odd how it did that long ago when I got it, and it went away with time, new set of lifters and its back.

    -Side Note-

I think no I hope I don't have to change the starter.

first night of 40 temps and going out. It started hard and not like a low battery but not enough umph. Only good side would be if the lifetime warranty was still in effect, I know they have loop hole on the time, been so long I can't member how long ago it was I changed it.

Starter wasn't worn out, it was broken???

And it was the original one, I must of never changed it. Was a Delco and had factory starter shim with part numbers.
