I want to buy a new radiator and change it with old one, first decided to buy a electric fan but as friends here said, its better to change the radiator and use the original fan+shroud, but now im confused on Radiators, some Champion brand are on the market with 3 or 4 rows, but i found Griffin brand with only 2 rows model, however im not sure about Champion but heard good words about Griffin, now is it very important to have more rows or not?? i should say that Griffin has 1/25 inch row.
Please let me know if you have any idea ??

The biggest issue to look at is that the radiator is the right size. That means width, height, depth.

Second issue is that it has the right hookups. That means the radiator hose fittings are on the correct sides and are the right sizes, and that a trans cooler or oil cooler is built in if you intened to use those. If you don't need the coolers built in (don't run coolers or have seperate ones already installed) than don't spend extra money to get a version of the radiator that has those features. Also if you need a filler neck and a vent tube than make sure the radiator you look at has those features.

Third thing is to figure out the cooling requirements that you need now and what you will need in the future. Most companies can give you an idea on their capacity and efficiency so that you can figure out if it's going to be enough. Most of the time they just say that it's good for up to a certain horespower level. The more efficient ones can handle more horses if you want to keep the comparisons simple.

The last things to remember are that the fan handles cooling at idle and in slow moving traffic, while radiator efficiency helps keep things cool at higher speeds and during extended driving. Thermostat temp decides when the coolant will start and stop flowing through the radiator to be cooled.

The debate between more coils that are smaller and fewer that are bigger basically comes down to what kind of conditions the car will see on a regular basis. I always hear that more small coils are better as it allows more contact between the coolant and the radiator surface which helps disapate heat better. If the coils are too small though it'll prevent the coolant from cycling fast enough to be completely effective under high rpms. A few big coils allow more coolant to flow at high rpms, but don't allow the coolant to release all of the heat in heavy traffic since it has less surface contact and moves quickly through the radiator.

In the past there were Buick photos on the first page of this thread :Smarty:

My guess is that the image host changed a few things on their end.
So don't blame Ardeshir for this :TU:

Every time I hear something on the news about the issues in Iran I wonder how you guys are doing over there. In the US we know full well how hard it can be for the regular guy when the government starts acting up. I imagine it's alot worse over there after all the revolts in the neighboring lands. And don't feel alone over there. Our government has recently been paying people to monitor and shut down websites that they don't like.
