What a great car! :eek2::eek2:I had Pat's number and heard he passed and didn't want to call about the cars but hopefully they will find thier way into good hands. Pat seemed like a really nice guy and I wish I had gotten to know him better. Damn though, if this went up for sale next year I would be all over this but don't have the cash right now. Phil is right, the holy grail of 73s! 4speed Black Stage 1 Suncoupe. I'm drooling. I don't need anymore either though really, but I could make an exception for this one. :Brow: Gurantee the roof under the vinyl top looks like swiss cheese! Trust me on that. But I'd get the car structurally sound, then drive it just the way it is until a proper resto could be done on it, which that car deserves. My Stage1 looked MUCH worse than this car does so if the main body is solid on this one (usually the cowls, firewalls, etc are good are these cars) and the frame is solid, you should be good to go. The sheet metal is what is bad on these 73s (paper thin), but this car isn't that bad. I guess it comes down to the fact that this one is very rare with its options. Does the top still operate properly? Does the car run? Not in line, so keep the sale going forward, just interested in learning more about this 73 and getting more info for anyone who is serious about buying it.:TU:
As far as I know, the car would run and move before Pat started taking apart the interior. The sun roof slides back and forth I understand, but I remember Pat telling me there was a gear that needed replacing. It's a shame the car is so rusty. At least the parts car is near perfect for use a donor. If one didn't want to go to all the work required to actually restore the Sun Coupe, one could take the drive train and all the important pieces from the Sun Coupe and swap them onto/into the green parts car and end up with a pretty neat car. FYI all: The price is very negotiable, so make an offer. Remember, you'll be getting the Sun Coupe, the green parts car, and all the extra parts Pat had accumulated.
Believe me, if I had the space for two more cars and all the parts, and if the wife didn't kill me first, I'd already have bought them myself!
As other said, If I had the place to put them and the $$$$$. I would love to give them a forever home. But then my wife would be selling them after she killed me. LOL Tim
Cheri has sold her house/property in Forney where the cars were stored, and they have been moved to alternate storage which is costing $$, so........ From Cheri: "I just moved them both to a storage unit, yesterday, THAT was fun!. I was asking $10,000 for both cars and all the parts, plus now I'm throwing in something that Jack said I had in the back, maybe another 455 engine I think? I have over $15,000 in both cars. I would take $8,000 if they can be picked up NOW. If they have to be paid out over a few months, and they have to stay in storage, then I need $9,000 plus $200/month for the storage fees. Lets see where this goes. Thanks!" Guys this is a steal!! If I only had the space and the money! Screw the space, if I only had the money!
I'd do anything to get that SunCoupe. I like it the way it is, I know call me crazy, but I like that old faded black paint on it. She's still not willing to sell the cars seperately?
Unfortunately the guy who could answer all these questions is gone, and his wife doesn't know anything about the cars. I would assume too that the doors had been replaced, you can see blue paint peeking thru in places. I think one of the previous posters mentioned he had at least one of the original doors in his basement. As far the yellow paint, I think the car had been painted yellow once in the past, but cannot confirm. I believe the rest of the sheet metal is original, but I can't confirm that either. I know, not much help, but as I said, the guy who could answer these questions isn't with us anymore.
Ok, to everyone interested in the cars/package: I talked to Cheri last night. She has three people that seem to be seriously bidding. While the bids are good bids, FOR NOW she is sticking to her bottom dollar of $8,000 and pick up asap. Basically the first person to show up with the $$$ and a trailer(s) gets it all. -Dean
Cars and parts are sold pending transfer of funds. :3gears: Should be picked up in early July. Cheri wants to thank everyone for their interest.
Hope it goes to a good home. This will be the one we will all wish we bought, at least for me. Gonna miss that car
You can say that again. Would love to see the buyer get it running and driving as-is, and show up at the GS Nats this year.
