seems to me the car is doing quite well for itself so far!! i do not see how adding power windows {if that is even true} could hurt this car money wise one bit. the wayne roberts stuff is nice, but who cares about that when you have a QQ cowl + protecto plate!

You can always switch it back to non AC. It's not like you have to repaint it. Just respray the firewall after the repair

Hi Guys, Just an observation. It seems most of us :) bash a Buick when its for sale & is bringing good $$$$$ but in the same breath we gripe that Buicks don't get no respect & we ask ourselves why they do not bring as much as the other cars. We can't have it both ways ! We should all be cheering that a Buick is bringing some good coin for once. :):D:rolleyes: Maybe we are the reason & our own enemy.

    P.S. Haters have at it !!!!!!!!!! ;)

I don’t think anyone is bashing it. I suspect every single one of us would love to own the car. I don’t think there’s any question among those of us on this site that this is a real Stage 1 GSX. My only point was that I would’ve provided as much information about the car in the ad as possible in order to prevent the inevitable flood of questions that he will receive (many of whom probably have no intentions of bidding on the car).

BaT doesn't collect the money, they don't dole out the settlement amounts and they have NO guarantees for anything - refer to:

    https://bringatrailer.com/how-bat-works/#post-auction

"If the auction reserve is met when the listing ends (or the auction is no reserve), BaT provides the seller and winning bidder with each others’ contact information. The buyer and seller then work together to complete the transaction...".

    https://bringatrailer.com/terms-of-use/

"..BATMEDIA IS NOT AN AUTOMOBILE BROKER, DEALER OR TRADITIONAL AUCTIONEER AND WE DO NOT SELL, EXCHANGE, BUY, OR OFFER FOR SALE, NEGOTIATE OR ATTEMPT TO NEGOTIATE, A SALE OR EXCHANGE OF AN INTEREST IN ANY VEHICLE LISTED ON THE DIGITAL SERVICES...".

It's a pricing vehicle for a private sale. I know plenty of these on BaT that fizzled out after the hourglass was empty. Usually, due to the shills that raise the price or the seller not giving information that was simply asked for.

Grow up and see the world for what it is, brother and weep not for those who don't choose to see reality...

Buyers aren't posting $20K tops for this car, it's currently at $72K with 6 days left of bidding.

It's not bashing to ask for documentation of current status. Sure, the care started as a GSX, but it has been stated by the seller it went through a rebuild, "refurbishment", etc. - what is it now? Does it currently have a Riviera engine, a Nova rear end, a lime green with pink polka dot funk-o-dunk interior, etc.?

It only makes sense to pay high dollars for something that resembles what it once was (it doesn't have to be 100% original), but it also makes sense to pay fewer dollars for something that is a "shell" of what once was.

If we can't SEE IT, (like the poor interior - look closely and beneath the seat belts too) it must be documented to prove what it still is - make sense?

Here you go here’s Wayne Roberts information if you would like to get documents if you’re (serious about the car),the owner may give you the Vin number. Last I heard it was 150 bucks you can deduct that from your offer. IMG_0596.jpeg

Sounds like several folks know the seller . There is 5.5 day's left. Do them a solid and pass this along. Sloan has 1 day expedited report, perhaps they do too . If you’re a buyer which report do you want to try & decipher ? No need to make this difficult .

Sloan doesn't have GSX info. You have to go through Wayne Roberts. And depending on when you get in line, it could take weeks

Who really cares about the microfilm info anyway? We all know it's a real X. I bought mine not knowing if it had the microfilm info.

    Seems this is happening BACKWARDS.

    1. The SELLER should be offering the verification docs upfront, it isn't on the buyer to scramble and dig up this info.

    2. The "purchase" price should be going up very, very, slowly as information either comes in or it doesn't.

    To verify what exactly?

To verify what is left after 54 years.

Originally, it was a 1 in 479 car.

To date it has so many undocumented modifications and aftermarket parts, it could be compared to a GSX clone, if it weren't for the body tag.

So it's not like we're trying to verify stage 1 status with the docs. We don't need the docs to know it's a real GSX. That's not in dispute. What is exactly? The AC was added. What else do you need the docs for? And the VIN doesn't tell you it's a GSX.

At some point, when you remove original parts and replace them with aftermarket parts, the value begins to decrease...

What aftermarket parts are you talking about?

Haven't you been keeping up? For instance:

Seller stated the engine was rebuilt with different block and all aftermarket parts aside from non-verifiable original Stage 1 heads. Trust me the heads are original, he says.

Seller stated the car was refurbished, but has zero documentation as to what was done, aside from what he says - again seller says trust me.

I asked twice for simple rebuild docs, none given...

The gentleman, Larry Miller, who was a well known in the Buick community had the restored, and he was known for absolutely no Shortcuts. All his cars were impeccable. Just look at pictures of the car.

Neither of the above is up to you. You don't get to dictate other people's reality.

Sorry this is an ongoing issue for you.

If you don't like the way the sale is handled DON'T bid.

Whining about how you don't like the sellers method is not helpful and is kind of annoying.

    re: above
    1) The seller can proceed as he/she wishes and the potential buyers get to decide their interest level.
    2) See #1

All these are the sellers words:

The car was purchased by my friend 30 years ago and the engine was not with the car then
    WTF?

Service since the seller’s acquisition in 2022 reportedly involved rebuilding the 455ci V8 utilizing a replacement engine block.
Blocked changed (no longer a SS block).

The engine was rebuilt in the spring of 2023.
The engine was bored and new pistons installed. TA 112 stage one cam was installed with new lifters. It’s looks like the original 8.2 that the 1970 cars had , and drives like it’s a 3:42 posi. The carb and distributer on the car are not original.
More non-original replacement parts in drivetrain.

Not able to see any code on diff. The pistons are forged 10:1 pistons supplied by the machine shop. The head had stage 1 valves in them and you know stage 1 heads and non carry the same cast numbers
No differential stamps (could be anything)
    No Stage 1 head verification
